It's real simple, what do you hunt boar with?
State your Primary and Secondary rifle (If any), what brand, model and caliber with grain and preference of bullet type and why. If your a bow hunter, also state what you use.

This information is not only to get an idea of what's being used, but also get idea of why you use what you use.

Mega Thanks in advance.

My primary hog rifle, at this point, is a Savage 110 in 30-06 (also my deer rifle). The main reason I carry this one most is because I like to stick with one gun. I'm shooting 165gr Nosler Ballistic Tips right now. When they're all gone, I may switch to something else, but haven't decided. Whatever I shoot through this rifle has to be good for deer too.

That said, I'm in the process of working with my Remington 742, also in 30-06. I shoot open sights on this one, and it may soon become my primary hog rifle. I'll be loading this one with 180gr bullets, either Remington Core-lokt or something fancy. Haven't decided yet. Right now it also shoots those same ballistic tips I use in the Savage.

Finally, (posted this in your other thread, also) I'm trying to get confident enough with my Ruger Super Blackhawk to start using it alone in some of the brushier areas where I hunt. Right now I use it as backup, and for carry while quail hunting, but I'd like to get where I can consistently bust a kill zone at 50-75 yards with it. That'll make me real comfortable inside 50. The gun is capable, I'm not... yet.

Of course, sometimes I carry my Winchester 94 in 30-30, just because it was my first rifle and I hate not using it. And then there's the .50 cal Hawken blackpowder rifle...and the BAR .308...

Primary: Marlin 1985GS 45-70, Nosler 300gr. Great brush rifle with a Leupold 2.5x Scout Scope (long eye-relief, very fast at acquiring target), 18.5" barrel, and 6.5 pounds. Good out to 100+ yards or so. Plus, just a really fun rifle.

Secondary: Weatherby .270 Ultralight, Nosler 150gr.

Thinkin' 'bout: Freedom Arms .454 Casull for scouting trips where I really don't expect to see a pig, but want something just in case. Mainly for the weight and size factor.

#1 30-06 Winchester Model 70. Leupold 3X9. Shoot 180 gr. Hornady.
#2 .300 Savage Model 99 Savage. Leupold 3X9. Shoot 150 gr. Remington Core-locts.
#3 .54 cal caplock muzzleloader. Shoots 430gr T/C maxiballs over 100grs of Pyrodex.
#4 30-30 Marlin 336cs. open sights. shoot 170 gr. Remington Core-locts.

Backup .40 Smith and Wesson sidearm.

I've got a 25-06 and a .243 that would work in a pinch. Great for deer but not the first ones I take on a hog hunt. #1 and #2 go with me on every hog hunt.

Winchester Model 70 in 30-06, handloaded 165 Gr. Nosler partitions, with 57 Gr. IMR 4350 (2880 FPS) and a Leupold Varix III 3x9. Use this load and rifle for all my deer and pig hunts.

Next year, new item; .50 cal muzzleloader hunt in Colorado. Will let you know the results when they're in (I'm hoping for a monster muley).

My SKS. The hogs in Calif are not that big. I even took a few with my .357 magnim Ruger when they popped up when rabbitt hunting.

But Now I got an eye on a Marlin 336 in .35 Remington that I like. But never had a .35 Remmy before.

Well I'm another of the single gunners and I haven't hogged yet, but my arsenal is a Savage Scout in .308 using 180g barnes XLCs over 44.5 g Varget (max load). I'd been backed up by a .40S&W... If I could find a holster for my frame. the above load is my everything loading. I will be trying some 150 gr. and 168 gr loadings soon. And in case anyone cares I am getting about 2630fps out of the 20" tube.

Primary- Marlin Guide Gun 45/70.. Remington 405gr soft point.

Secondary- Remington 700 Mountain 7x57 mauser.. Federal Premium 140gr Nosler.

I always seem to find myself in the thickest pile of Manzanita around when hunting hogs, so thats why the Guide gun is primary. I usually carry a 1911 as a back up to either rifle.

Take care.

2) Soon to be in action!! Ruger M77 in 257 wby

Backup) Ruger Super Redhawk 44mag, w hotloads using Hornady XTP tips

I'm anxious to see how that 257 wby performs. Want to make it my deer and pig gun.

I've never hunted hogs either, but I'm hoping to bust the cherry on my Marlin 1985 .45-70 rifle on one, maybe on a POR this season.

Otherwise, it'll be be my M-70 Classic/Leupold VXIII .30-06. I've never carried a sidearm hunting. The wilderness is just not as dangerous as the city.

I am getting my first pig/deer gun for Christmas this year. A Savage 110 chambered in either .270 win or 30/06, still haven't decided on which yet. I will top it off with a Weaver 3-9 scope, and hopefully get out and bust some pigs with it this year, and maybe a deer next year.

Handgun: Ruger Super Redhawk .454 Casull 335 gr. hardcast open sights.

Backup, if the .454 Casull won't do it, I'll just lay down and let him eat me. Backup would be kind of useless at this point.
