what is the best Fort Hunter Liggett area to hunt hogs

Thinking about going to Hunter Liggett for some hogs wondering what the best traning areas to hunt in. Im not asking for your secret areas just a fiew good areas, but feel free to tell your secrets if you dont mind.

What topo maps should i have for hunter liggett

the most successful areas are 29 and 30 which are archery and shotgun. If you go look in the book the have at the check station and see where the pigs have been from. I bet 29 and 30 give 5 to 1 results when you compare to the other TA's.

Areas 10/13, 15, 16, 24 all are good. There is no topo map for FHL since its' a military fort. There is a DMA (Defense Mapping Agency) military map but it's not for sale to the public. You can try and weasel one from someone on the fort, they show the topography of the fort well.

When you go into the FHL check station and ask Nancy very nicely she might give you a map of that training are you are hunting if she have a xtra available. Good luck.
My advice is if you find an area that has good success hunt that particular area until you know it like that back of you hand that way you can be more Succesful on future hunts. Find regular travel routes and fresh rootings and ask questions from other hunters. GOOD LUCK!!!
