Hello, all. New to this board, and was wondering what your favorite lure/bait for hogs. I use shelled corn from a feeder, soured corn in a post-hole bait, and sometimes soured stock feed, that needs to be disposed of. Lately, I have started to use "Hog Wild!" attractant in with the corn in my feeder. Seems to work pretty well, and a couple weeks ago, someone told me to pour some DIESEL FUEL(?) on the corn before putting it out! They said it works to attract hogs, and the deer & other animals leave it alone. Anyone else tried this? Open to suggestions>>>Bug.

Bug,

Putting Diesel fuel on the corn is a trick to keep the raccoons away from it but the hogs will still eat it. If you want a real cheap alternative to keep the hogs hanging around your feeder longer try this.

Bury a 6' - 7' about 3 feet in the ground. Wrap the exposed section with a piece of old carpeting. Get some 'OLD' motor (very used from an old diesel engine is even better) and pour it on the carpeting. Make sure you have the carpeting secured pretty good as the hogs are going to try and rub that post right out of the ground. Here's a photo of what I put in near my feeder.

Here's one they found a week after I planted it.

What they're doing is rubbing the oil on their hair to help keep the bugs & ticks off of them. The whole purpose is to keep them around your feeder area longer so you have a better chance of catching up with them there.

Here's what will happen if you don't have your post planted in real solid soil. This one was 2 1/2 ft in the ground and they pushed it over , and out of, the ground several times before I had to relocate it and plant it deeper.
