Hi SoCal,

Best way to get a feel for what the POR is all about is to roll back through the pages and check out some of the discussions... especially those from last Spring.

In a nutshell, though, the Pig O Rama is an unguided hog hunt put on at Tejon Ranch, which is in the Tejon pass just off I-5 on the way to LA (or on the way to SF, if you're coming from LA). Check out a map and look for Lebec.

For $300 ea, you get access to an area of the ranch for two and a half days to hunt one pig. The biggest pig for the weekend pays a $500 prize. All the others make good dinners and great experiences. They have three areas, usually, which include the North, the South, and the Desert. North area goes up to around Tehachapi (I believe), and South goes down to I-5. I think the Desert is on the northeast side, but I could have it totally backwards. Each area is HUGE, so you don't have to stumble over one another during the hunt. You will, however, probably see other hunters, since there's a lot of hunting relatively close to the camping areas. You could also stay in a nearby motel and drive in each day, but I think it was a lot of fun getting to camp with several other JHPers.

In my opinion, it's probably the best private land hunting package you could ask for right now. There are a ton of pigs on the property, and if you put in any effort you have good odds. But even if you don't score, the place is beautiful. You'll spend the weekend in awesome surroundings.
