Here (the US) the biggest I have seen was about 300-350 pounds, but it was a mix with a farm pig. But the biggest I have seen was one that my father shot about 14 years ago that weight about 500+ pounds in the southern part of Iran. This boar was so big that once we got it on the front guard of the Land Rover (had to use a pully system and a winch from another car to do this) its front and back legs were dangling from both sides of the Truck. The other amazing thing that my father found was that the boar had previously been shot twice, one in the front right shoulder and one in the lower right rib cage. After dressing the boar we saw that it was shot with buck shots, which really did nothing except pierce the skin.

Before we even started hunting that weekend, some local farmers had been complaining about a boar that was destoring their crops, mainly tomatoes. So at around 2am we starting spot lighting and about a hour into the hunt we saw what seemed like a cow at about 300 yards. We decided to get closer and as soon as my father realized that this was no cow he drew his 30.06 and with the light of the spot light fired one round at about 120 yards. Of course the boar took off running, we tracked it for about 2 hours and decided to stop since we came to a steep canyon, and thought it would be better to tract the boar in day light. Well, we finally found the sucker at about 8 am lying in a pool of mud trying to heal itself, but with no hesitation my father shot it in the head.

What was the biggest one you guys shot? or just seen?

There was a picture of a +/-550 lb boar in Western Outdoor News a year or two ago. Supposedly it was shot near Paso Robles. One big %$#&^#@ pig!

The biggest boar I've taken was about close to 300 pounds taken on the Work's Wildlife Ranch. It was also my first pig and man did it taste good. I took it with a 7 mm mag at 150 where it dropped in it's tracks, which amazed me. Attached is a picture of the pig, I'm not sure how to post the pics on here , but you can see the pig. Man, the memories, oh the memories.

I saw a 400 pound pig hanging in a barn in Paso Robles about 10 years ago. The biggest I've seen while hunting was a 300-350 pounder that I opted not to shoot. Took a 125 pounder instead.

I took a huge Boar hunting with Tom Willoughby about 10 years ago. We didn't weigh it to get the exact weight, but at the meat locker the carcas weighed 186 pounds, so we figure he was over 350 easy. Got the whole hunt on video.
Taken a lot of 200#.

This is probably the biggest one I've seen in CA. But I have no idea what he weighs. Any guesses? He had a big, woolly cape like a bison.

My big big hog was 420# shot in the Sutter Buttes by Yuba City, It looked more like a farm hog, than the hogs I shoot here in Paso. But I have seen some big hogs along Indian Valley Road that were well over the 300# mark.

306# for me. It was one mean bastard. Took two good shots in the lungs, one that passed all the way through. One at 70 yards that sent him running, another at 85 yards on the run. Third in the neck at about 100. That one put him down. As I walked up to him he still tried to get up to charge me, even with a broken neck. He couldn't get up but tried to crawl after me. He grunted several times and stared me right in the eyes, I swear. It really freaked me out and it took one more round in the ear to end it all. This was all with a 30-06 and 180 gr. The whole thing was kind of freaky. I think that hog was posessed. He ended up with 1/2" teeth.

My big hog is only 179 lbs gutted, at Tejon. However, on the same trip, I saw a 400+++ lber. It was about 500 yards away. It looked like a hippo. It was massive. It could have been 500 lbs. I'm just tring to be conservative. It got into the thick stuff before we could make a move. We hunted that thick stuff for hours, with 44 mag in hand. I can't wait to see that monster again.

the biggest hog I have taken hit the scales @350#. I hit him with a 7mm at just over 200 yards as he toped a hill. The shot took him in the right ham and exited his back, taking out 7 vertabre. Also sending bone fragments into all his vitals. He screamed and went straight down.
The largest I have seen had to weigh close to 500#. I only got a glimpse of him running across a field at about 100 yards. Easy rifle shot, of course I was bow hunting at the time. &%$@#$@
Both were with Mustang Guide Services.

Didn't weigh it whole because it was too big but without guts, head, or hide it weighed 194 lbs. so we estimated it to be well over 350. I took this one near San Miguel with Willoughby. One shot to the noggin from about 275 yards (very lucky shot). Nighty-night, piggy. That was the best eating hog I've ever had. Head shot, gutted immediately, in the cooler inside of 40 minutes. Was in June when the barley was up and they'd been eating good.

My biggest one to date was 287lbs field dressed..so above 310 live weight. The only hog I've taken on a guided hunt with dogs..tough old boar though.. shot him in the face with a .44mag and he still ran 50yrds ..think he was just all full of adrenilin from fighting with the dogs..found him flopped down and put another in him.

P.S. Last spring a friend shot a 400 lb. sow, I've got a pic somewhere but can't find it. It actually looks longer than the one above, I'll try to find it and post it up.

Sorry about that, Waldo. I gotta figger out how to better post these pics from webshots. I don't spend a lot of time trying to figure that stuff out (and it shows). I'm doin somethin wrong. I'll post them in another website I'm pretty sure that works then list that. I did find the pic of the 400 lb sow and was just about to post it up until I read your post. I'll put them both in another site and edit this post with those urls. The boar was 450 live weight, the sow 400.

OK, let's try that again.....here's the 450 lb. (that was not completely on the scale) Boar out of King City, Ca. in 1994;

The largest I shot we estimated at 250 pounds. The largest I seen while hunting was a boar at FHL. Weighed 300 pounds. Nice looking animal. That was intact weight. I beleive Jesse has a picture on the forum here of that pig. It was taken last October during my Elk hunt on FHL. I have a picture at home that I'll post later.

Here's a picture of a hog that I already had on my hard drive. He isn't the biggest I've ever caught, but he was one of the meanest!
