Kram I will give you a serious answer. In cali we dont have alot of big game to hunt. We have deer bear hogs. We have Elk and antelope but getting drawn for those is a million to one chance. The Deer and bear season run the same time so when that season ends theres nothing left to hunt but hogs. We can hunt them year round and shoot as many as we want as long as we have tags. They are also about the toughest SOBs to kill. You dont put it in the kill spot and you will not find that hog and he will more then likely live. I have seen hogs killed that when gutted had bullets lodged in there shoulders as well as broad heads. The wounds heeled over and they were just fine. The other thing is they can get down right mean and will not think twice about trying to take you out if they think its there only way out and there tusks will slice you and dice you! Besides being tough they also have a keen sens of smell. The wind must always be in your favor or you will not ever find them. One gust of wind or a swirl up a canyon and hunts over! They are not like deer there is no second chance,they will not run a little ways and stop to see what it was. Hope this helps you understand why we Cali boys are crazy about hog hunting. Damn I need to go hog hunting!

Kram I gave you a serious answe so maybe you can do the same for me. If you deer hunt from a tree stand please explain to me where the exciment is. Im not knocking it as I have never done it,But when I watch the tv shows it just dosent do it for me. Its always the same deer comes down the trail and it gets shot usually at 30 yards or less. Is there a reason Most in your neck of the woods dont spot and stalk hunt? Just curious

i live in ohio and as far as i know there are very few hogs around even the dnr cant tell me a good place to go . but if you can please let me know . i take a trip to texas every year to hunt hogs and i love it . have a hog charge you and you will see what the rush is . not every one hunts out of a tree we still hunt hunt on the ground and do deer drives too. people like to hunt in all sorts of ways as long as your out ther doing what you love its all good know reason to put someone down because they dont hunt the same way as you.

Pigs here are mean. A few year ago a friend and I went out. Got to 30 yards on some large sows. Friends 44mag dropped one, another one charged me, I shot it with a 30-30 a 1/4" from square between the eyes. The bullet leterlly bounced off and the pig continued it's charge. Lucklly it was slightlly dased and I got out of the way. Later that day I kill that same pig and it had a hole in the skin right between the eyes. I now have a new respect for pigs I just glad it was a sow and not a huge boar with 3.5" tusks.

please tell me where you are going to hunt hogs in ohio. i live there and dont know of any good places to go. i hunt them in texas and love to hunt them they can be mean and it is a rush when one charges you. they are harder to hunt than deer and i love to hunt them too.
