One was killed by loggers, I got one by liberty on sat. I saw one taken off of rockpile tonight. Sat was a madhouse with all the hunters, today was busy but not as bad. Good luck out there!

Hey White Mamba...How are most of the hunters getting around? Drive and walk, boat?

Most guys use a boat for the cloverdale side, but us poor joes have to hoof it! You see most of the walk in hunters off of Rockpile rd

Buddy of mine had a shot last Thursday. Said he found a hotspot. May head up there this Friday.

There's definitely some good spots, you have to put some work into it but they are there. Once you find your spot it's just a matter of time.

Hello LS pig hunters!
I have a statistical update for you, this time last year there were 544 registered hunters and 20 pigs were taken. Now there are 521 registered hunters and 9 pigs have been taken.
Good Luck!

Rachel, thanks for the update. With that many hunters and so little success, I think you or your supervisors may need to re-consider of having another shot gun hunting again. I know this lake in the back of my head as I always go fishing and camping during the summer months. I have see first hand of how damaging the campsites are, not to mention the shorelines along the lake!

Hello Miensean,

Any recommendations about going back to shotgun slug should go to our Natural Resource ranger Joe Lishka. I will pass that along to him but, to be honest I wouldn’t hold your breath that we go back to shotgun slug anytime soon. You most likely remember the first season we had using shotgun slug was great because only a few people knew about it. But the following season was all bad! We had so people on the DCA shooting and not just shooting at pigs. Sorry to be a downer and I’m not trying to be negative but unfortunately we had to many problems. I will leave a note for Joe so hey, you never know!

Good luck this season!

Ok, Jason229 and his dad and dads friend are useing the boat this weekend at the lake and have been camped at a primitive campground since Friday till today.
Yesterday morning Jason got a running shot on about 8 hogs that blew by him but no connect.
Just before sundown his Dad got a shot on a nice boar at 15 yrds but over back.
I just got word dads friend blew some pigs out but no shot opp. He says a lot of fresh sign. He sent me a couple of photos look like there hunting in a Hawaiian jungle deep back in the lake region.
Stay tuned for updates!...tra

Had a great weekend up at the lake, like TRA said saw a buch Saturday but could not connect. Had another opportunity Sunday afternoon on 2 boars that ran across the trail 10yds from me. They were being pushed out of the brush above by my Dads freind and another one of my dads friends decided to leave his post higher on the road and come toward me. Needless to say when I was at full draw with the hogs crashing through the brush toward the trail they crossed 10yds away from me I turned and there was my dads buddy standing in the middle of the trail 20yds from me so I had to watch them run away. Still was a good trip saw about 12hogs total.

Damn it.......I could have been there with you guys. I double dose on the pepto-bismo and Friday night the bathroom rush stopped. So Saturday morning I headed south for a day and coming up is another post, titled "Says who......***".
