The last time was on September 27th, and I think I seen him in person catching a bone fish. We flew over to O'ahu for the San Jose State football vs U of Hawaii game, and before the game we drove our rental car over to the other side of the island to check out the boar hunting at Ahupua'a 'O Kahana State Park . On the way we pasted by Kualoa Ranch, and he was parked along the highway reeling in a trophy sized bone fish. He was pretty busy fighting the fish while warring his U of Hawaii football T-shirt. I asked him if he was going to the game, and he said, "No".
San Jose State won the game 20 to 17 with Strubeck's 50-yard field goal, and with only 9 minuets left in the game. College football is the biggest thing in Honolulu, and the tailgate parties completely circled Aloha Stadium. We were lucky to make it back to our rental car warring our bright yellow San Jose State Squad shirts. Almost everyone was drinking. The guy at the hotel desk gave us a hard time when we returned.
We tried to be nice and invited the Hawaiians who post here on JHO to the Spartan's pre game party at the Tiki Bar and Grill at Waikiki, the night before the game, but no one showed up. Well, 4 United Airline pilots were at the party, but I don't know if they live in Honolulu?
Uncle Ji posts messages regularly on the Hawaiian Bass Fishing Forum using the handle, "Ahnkochee". If you are planning on doing some tropical fishing on O'ahu, then those guys are good friends to have. Stan Wright the forum owner/fishing guide and will take you out in his flats boat to fish Hickam Flats for giant bone fish. Uncle knows the Kane' ohe Bay, plus he hunts boar. Oddly enough, the Hawaiians post their hunting pics on another fishing fourm, " ulua-fishing com" and call their boar a, "catch". I use the handle, "airline" over there. I would like to see more Hawaiians post over here on Jesses Forum.
