Swarovski 10x42 SLC, Zeiss 10x40 Victory, Steiner 10x42 Predator or Steiner 10x42 Rocky?  I have found these four on the net priced at or between $729.69 (Steiner Predator) to $764.69 (the Swarovski's).  The price is substantially the same, how the heck do you make an informed choice between them?

I've owned the Zeiss and they are great glass. But you are not going to beat the Swarovski's. When I bought my Leica's, it was a toss up between them and the Swarovski's. In my opion they are the 2 best glass makers in the world.

That is a great price for the Swarovski. Get them, you won't regret it.

Swarovski/Zeiss gets my vote over Steiner for glass quality.  I've had a real hard time telling the difference between Zeiss and Swarovski though.  My Swarovski SLCs are a little more comfortable in the hand though than the comparable Zeiss binocs.  I also like the built in lense covers.

You won't be disappointed either way...

I got some Leica 10X42 a couple of years ago from a dealer on Ebay for $800.  I love them.  They should last me a lifetime.  I have seen them in the $700's many times since then.  Try doing a search on ebay for Leica binoculars.

Thanks Bailey,i still had time to cancel.Ordered from AAA,great prices, you saved me about $100.00.Guess i owe you one, after MUCH research i went with the Leicas for a number of reasons #1 being totally weather proof,it was Leica or Swaros, the Leicas were a bit lighter, supposedly as good or better in low light conditions, and $120.00 cheaper.I was looking at the Swaro slc 7x42.Thanks again.

Did you order from AAA camera arive? I saw their prices but for some reason I don't trust New York. Let us know if it went good.

Pep1,actually i backed out of the Leicas with AAA camera, after being advised they were soon to be indicted for credit card fraud, also they have numerous complaints with the BBB.I went to plan B and bought a new pair of Swift 8.5 x 44 nitrogen purged for $375.00 thru http://www.Simpsonoptics.com this after countless hours of research with the help of the website http://www.betterviewdesired a birdwatchers website extraordinaire.Sounds like your New York radar was right on the money.AAA sells black market glass which has no warranty,so im told.Makes sense as theyre prices were sooo lowwww.Bummer.TakeReasy.Shep.

Shep-  Thanks for the report.  Pays to be cautious.  I did, however, bite the bullet and bought a pair ot the Swarovski 10x42 SLC's from Guns & Gear here is Sacramento.  $899.00 over the counter, plus Kalifornia sales tax.  I LOVE those glasses!!!
