Why are these Baush and Lomb's priced so low?

I've seen these at various sporting goods stores. Anyone have any experiences with these? For $69, I'm not sure how you could go wrong.

I am thinking that the price is low because that model was made in China. I'm not a B&L expert but some of the other models are from Japan and are priced higher.

For one, they are not fully multi-coated. It says that they are multi-coated. They are also not phase coated. These are very important for roof prism binos.

Fully multi-coated means that every air to glass surface in the binocular has an anti reflective coating on it. This coating helps more light go through the glass and not reflect back, sort of like when you look at a window and you can see your reflection in it. You do not want that.

Just plain multi-coated binos only have some of the air to glass surfaces with any kind of coat on them.

Phase correction coating transmitts even more light.

All these will lead to a brighter image and gather more light.

The main reason that these binocs are so cheap is that they SUCK! I fell for this great marketing scheme of prices so low you cant afford not to buy them, and let me tell you these glasses were the worst pair I think I have ever used. It was virtually impossible to look through these binoculars without getting a double image, no matter who was looking through them. I would NOT reccoommend these binoculars.
