Why can't we spear hunt hogs in CA?

Why can't we spear hunt hogs in CA? How come them FL, GA and TX boys get to spear hunt and have all the fun?

If anyone wants to help me get an argument together on why we should be able to spear hunt in CA I'll present it to the CA Fish & Game Commission.

I don't have a problem with it, I think an atlatl would be way fun.

I agree WHY NOT a Spear or a Knife.

If your hunting with dogs it would be a faster way to put the animal down safely, without accidentaly shooting a dog with a gun or arrow etc... We live in the United States of America, we should have the choice to hunt any ethical way we want. IF its ok to spear fish in shark infested waters, and its ok to be, so up close and personal that you could put an Arrow in a Hog, or Bear why cant I someone use a Spear or Knife especially again if hunting with dogs.

As far as the Anti's are concerned I would think they would like to see a hunter get up close and personal with its game, better chance for the hunter to get hurt.

Yeah, I think it's a totally unreasonable case of perception over facts.

A well-used spear will kill at least as well as a broadhead... maybe better (never used one).

It should be legal.

Guy's the reason you can not use spears is simple. You might leave your spear in the pig and some dumb ass condor will try to eat the spear and choke on it

Same for trying to bait with anti freeze, condors like to wash the lead down with it

I'm with you. I could whip an atlatl out in a weekend. Then, spend the next 3 months learning how to hit something with it!

well i agree that spear hunting should be legal, but there is a chance of the spear hitting where it's not supposed to when it's thrown and that ain't good. then again, if you get close enough you could just stick the hog too huh. well i guess spear hunting will be really cool and having a spear would be cheaper that a bow or gun.
