WOOOOOOOOOOOOOT! Any JHO special hunt going on now? I'd love to go to Choppers place, not too far from where I live! That means all my practice isn't going to waste hopefully.

559, as soon as i get more details i want to set something up either a solo or group hunt. left a message on his cell last night, and i will try though the yahoo.com to send a message.

DirtyDave, you can retrive some of the past post hunts and stories we have done at Choppers place here on the hog forum mostly titled (Wild Hog Adventure) or (Choppers).
his ranch is 4000 acers + with a nice lodge, and he was catering strickly to bowhunters for wild boar hunts there for a few years, and i think its been a little over a year that he wanted to take a break from it all and our jho group hunts came to a end.
his ranch is like hog hevan at times for sure, there are some trophy boars for sure and i have seen on my hunts there at least 3 huge pigs pushing that 350-400 lb.

besides all that Chopper and his wife are real good people and are great host, and he is really good putting you on hogs! everytime i hunt there i dont want to leave successfull or not, its that good!
hope this info helps DD, have a great day!....................tra

Details? (I'm new haha)

I've never hunted the ranch, but from what TRA has told me, and the mass amount of stories from a little over a year ago, it's paradise for an archer. I always wanted to go there, just because of the stories, but at the time I wasn't an archer yet :lol bashing sign:.

honestly, i went a few years ago. i dropped behind the cabin and simply started walking. i did this huge loop. i startled turkey repeatedly, but saw zero pigs. they are there, but i didnt see squat.

having said that...it is a rocking great time. we stalked ground squirrel things, talked, laughed...if i had a turkey tag, it would have been a swish shot.

chopper is a funny effer...great story teller.

Yep it's true

First a note to the Mods: Jesse approved this post.

Well, it has been almost a year and a half. A much needed break for my family and I.
Yes, I am opening up the ranch for hunts again. I want to get back to the basics though. Just a few hunts a year. More hunting and less BS.
Make no mistake, if you book a hunt with me, it will be tough. You will have to get up early and stay out late, wear out some leather, work hard to locate, stalk and arrow a hog. I cannot guarantee anything other than a great weekend that you wont soon forget, pig or not.

Here are the particulars:

2 day hunt that will end at noon on Sunday. I will meet your group in town (Hollister) at 9 a.m. on Friday. From there, we will travel to the ranch, get settled in and take the orientation tour.

You will be provided with a nice place to stay in a quaint little ranch cabin with hot running water. Beds for up to 7 people. A covered skinning area and a walk-in cooler to hang your game until you depart.

You must bring your own food and drink and coolers to keep your beverages cold. There is no fridge or power at the cabin. A rusty old generator might light the night if it feels like it.

This is really an unguided hunt. You will transport yourself around the ranch to the various hunting locations. You are responsible for finding your downed game and field dressing and skinning. I no longer have dogs to assist in tracking so if you make a bad shot, it's on you to seal the deal in the end. Your tracking skills may be tested.

I know the big question on your mind is "how much is all this great fun going to cost me?"

Pig or no pig = $400

That's a lot less than I used to charge, but with the economy in the toilet and the fact that I'm not guiding you, I felt a lesser fee was appropriate.

Shoot me an email or give me a bang on the pipes if you are interested.

Thanks for reading my post.

Hi all -- I live in San Jose - I used to lease a bit of property in Paicines for personal hog hunting. I ended my lease as it produce very few hogs. I'd love to join (& meet) people for a hog hunt at Chopper's...been hunting for 30 years...have killed a few hogs in my day, although nothing with my bow yet -- usually hunted with pistol or my .270. let me know if you want another to join you

No worries, I got a Tundra now specifically for these situations :).

I'd definitely be interested, but I'd have to talk it over with my other half. I'm supposed to go to the winter olympics with her in Vancouver next year. We will see what happens, because 400 isn't a whole lot for an entire weekend.
