Just curious on how many people have bagged wild pigs in Southern California On public hunting land i dont really hear much about wild pig hunting in so cal
The place that has the most is Tejon Ranch and that will cost you. They are close to public land in some cases, however, there really isn't enough water to draw them away, in my opinion.
100 miles of hiking you must of spent a couple days camping out and yea ive been looking on onx and huntwise for public land to hunt and scout i might head out to barstow for my first hunt in a couple of weeks to try and get some jack rabbits or some cotton tails when the season starts the wild pigs I believe are open season in California? Correct me if im wrong but i read on the california fish and game website saying that they were open season and didn’t have a bag limitThere are hogs on public land through central coast to Central Valley took me around 100 miles of solo armed hiking to locate 2 good spots. Boots on the ground will find them. Do some google earth scouting helps a lot and then get time to go look. Prepare to do a lot of dry runs…. But trust me when I say once you get your own good spots it will be rewarding.
Hogs are year round so combo hunt is nice. You should see plenty of jacks around.
Just be sure to get your pig tags. Public land hogs are one of the hardest hunts. Not many hunters know where to find them and the ones that do keep it close to the vest. Especially in SoCal. There used to be some good places in S.D county but the state hired some professional hunters to come in and kill them off. Also in the river bed near Riverside but hunting there got outlawed people living along there didn't want hunters there even though it was shotgun & archery only when it was permitted.
Im hoping to get my first jacks in a couple weeks in barstow im gonna look into the wild hogs a little bit more before i purchase a tag
Get the tag for sure you will see one if you don’t. They are cheap but only good for a month and a half. Maybe just get one after the new year cycle in June and it’s good for a year.
Lots of desert to hunt in Socal. trick is to find water and food.

Do you have to purchase tags there?
