I would have crapped myself if that were me!

As I said earlier, I can't see shooting something you're not going to eat. Must be I'm gettin' old or something.

I don't think I'd want to hunt with that client. It's not the PH's fault that the client f'd up his first shot and wasnt' quick enough to get off a good second shot.

I am not into trophy hunting & not into hunting animals that can eat me. Even with hogs they are dangerous when they charge & you are in the way of their escape. Lots of folks are brave, ice veined, & adrenaline junkies. I have stories of hog caused injuries which I will post in the hog hunting forum. I play it safe as much as possible. Not into putting my life on the line for just a hobby. 'Nuff said. God Bless. larrysogla.

I dunno about that being a "wild" lion as much as it is a pissed off lion. If you look in the background you'll see what I believe is a fence, so I think this might be one of those canned hunts. And they couldn't get it right even then. I was pullin for the Lion also, BTW. Most likely we're looking at a couple stupid rich dudes with their adrenalin running amuck. Totally just plain lucky they didn't kill each other in the crossfire.

Word to the wise; If you're hunting dangerous game (penned in or not), you better wear your cool head that day, and KNOW your shot will dispatch the animal (or don't shoot).

There is a fence in the background. But that's not much of a fence that will stop lion travel.

I'm not trying to be "holier than thou", but I just see NO point in hunting big cats in Africa. It's not like they are over-populated or anything.

I would love to go to Africa someday; but I'll be hunting Wilderbeast, Gazelle, etc.

To be honest, I was rooting for the Lion in this............. plus, it looked to me like the Lion was FENCED in. What kinda crap is that!

And the way those guys were shooting all over, I sure wouldn't want to hunt with them!

Which side of the fence was the lion on? You only see a little bit of the fence on the right when the video starts. If it was a canned hunt, it was an awfully big can

Sure don't like the direction some people are taking this board lately.... My way of hunting is better than your's, and on, and on, and on......

All I'm saying is that the enclosure that you see in that video will not hold all lions in. In that type of sandy terrain a lion will have no problem digging under that fence.

Clutch, were you aimin at me there? Hope not, but if so, the only "holier than thou" stance I'd want to take on this forum is the point I made about being sure of your target (and what's beyond it), know your effective range, and be sure you know where your shot is going to go in ANY situation before squeezing the trigger, big game or small game, no matter.

And I will consistantly take that stance because I've been on the other side of that fence and got away with it once and have not forgotten what could've been (but wasn't). Hardly in any holy category here, that's for sure. Hope that makes some sense....

No not really Freedivr2, take a look at some of the whitetail hunting threads that have been posted lately and you'll see where I'm coming from. I totally get what you're saying.

Edited to add: Quote by jus'me- "I think you get a discount if you take your own feed can to shake. What a joke. "

That quote is in reference to two trophy's Bigtuskers 10 year old son shot with a bow on a exotic game ranch.

Quote by tmoniz- "This is a little too much science and scrutiny for photos being taken of dead animals. I don't much care for the photo of the smallish cat with pointy ears either.
Not much sport in that. Nor do I consider that a trophy either. I've never been impressed with photos and footage of people taking African game. Every time I see film footage of some one stalking and shooting an African animal I wonder.
Where's the challenge. Other than the shear fact that there is something out there that may be stalking you, and could in fact eat you as well.

To each his own, I guess. "

That quote is refernce to an awesome post by jjhack refering to a Lynx (I beleive) that jjhack had shot in Africa.

It is quote's like the two above and a couple in the whitetail forum which are really beging to piss me off.

Clutch I couldn't agree with you more.

The bottom line is, people just don't know until they've been there. And how can people say that they would never hunt the big cats there because they are underpopulated, etc. People just don't know. I hate it when people make uneducated and unexperienced statements about places and things they have no clue about.

I don't think this was a canned hunt. On a previous discussion of this video, JJhack (PH), mentioned there are fences everywhere in Africa. Thats not to say there are nop canned hunts in AF. Im sure there are some.

Go over to accuratereloading.com and ask those guys in the African forum what they think of the video and the supposed wild lion. those guy hunt Africa all the time and they have some pretty good arguments that say it was a canned hunt.
I'll re-state some of them here.
First is the fence. Next is the mane is too full for a wild, free roaming lion. Next is the number of people including a couple unarmed. Next is the PH should have benn shooting as soon as the lion got back up, and the guy that got knocked down should have had some visible injuries from the lion, unless he had been de-clawed.
