Since Kentuck had to back out is there still a spot open? I'm working the Birthday angle, Oct. 2, and keeping my fingers crossed. Also I don't have the best legs can I go up a day early and pick some easier spots to set up in before the actual hunt?

PM me if your really interested and I can let George know there will be one more showing up. You won't be able to get there a day early, but I can let George know of your limitations. He will know of an area you can hunt.

Weather.com show rain Mon-Wed. and high 70's for the weekend. Rain should be good for hog's right? gets the ground all nice and muddy for them.

I don't think so, lol... it only takes 45 mins for dinner, so if you want to eat you'll have to wait.

Tonight , Monday & Tuesday night are my last three shifts before trip. Wednesday hopefully a last trip to range to try out some new ammo (3100 FPS). Final packing up of truck Wednesday night . Thursday drive up w/co-pilot . Should take about 8 hrs to Healdsburg. Can't freakin wait !
If roads muddy and steep , do I need to bring chains ?
Balance payable with check or cash ?

Anybody ever got one first afternoon ? (2nd tag and 300 bucks in pocket?)
So many ifs......
Visitor center closed for remodeling. Parking lot open ?
Easiest access from Healdsburg or further up HWY 101 ?

Lead is going to fly, and pigs are gonna be pork chops !!!:smiley-mouse:

All the roads are paved to the to the camp and then once your there it a gravel road for a couple hundred yards maybe. the visitor center might be closed but the parking lot is huge should not be closed, from there we will all caravan about 10-12 miles to camp. You can pay by check or cash.

Depending how far you make it up on thursday the Headlsburg is best way to get there. As for traffic you should feel right home because its stop and go in the morning and evening. Now once you get past the Bay area and are heading north on hwy101 it's pretty easy going, it does get backed up a little in some spots. But all in all is an easy drive. If you can get past the Bay Area by Thurs. you'll have no trouble getting there Fri. morning. Lake sonoma is one of those place's thats not to faraway but no easy way to get there. I'm coming from Woodland and it's almost a striaght line across on a map but I gotta go way outta my way to get there. but it's worth it

Dont worry about chains, George will do all the transporting and bring you back. Its kind of rare for him to let people take their on rigs.

You can pay balance by check or cash, your choice.

We have had people show up in tennis shoes and kill hogs the first hunt out, and then they have killed them the last minute on Sunday, so it depends.

Access is from Healdsburg, take the Dry Creek Rd. exit and head West.

I hate work!! Can't wait to go hunting....

Damn I feel like I'm missing out. We're getting on a plane Tuesday night. So what are you guys all planning on shooting with. Last year I used a .243, but I would try to use my .44mag revolver this time.

I'll be using my 30-06 and on my hip 45acp. I know the 45 is not the best sidearm for pig but it the biggest I own. And if I have to use it, it's better than nothing.

Can't wait to smoke a pig.

I just went by the visitor center yesterday and looks like the backside of the parking lot is open if not the parking lot across the street from the center is open. Me, my son, and a friend went out today (west of Cloverdale) saw a nice 250 plus boar. However we missed two shots. Pigs up here are nice and fat. You gentlemen have a good time keep the rest of us posted. Might have to come next year even though I hunt private land up here, this hunt sounds super fun.

I've been kinda quiet on here, but can't wait to get up there this weekend, try my luck, and meet you guys. I will be bringing a smoker and a generator if any of you need it. See you Friday morning!

Fug,

Also shooting a .243 with a .357 in the old hip pocket. Hopefully can stone one and not have to chase it into the bushes !

Hey Mel , you keep some late hours. You a night shift guy also ?

Yep, I work 12 hour shifts but on like a firemans schedule. 2 days on 2 days off kind of thing. It's pretty cool, I have a lot of time off during the week that allows for some good hunting with me by myself.

Just go a txt from George, he started hunting on the 1st. I asked him how things are looking, he broke it down to one word, "GREAT!"
