Go get 'em fellas

Wish the whole crew a great weekend and a "blessing" - May many an unwise hog cross your path. Have a great time and take lots of pictures for all of those who aren't fortunate enough to be up there.

Ok, here's a quick up date. 2 hogs down and another group is looking for their hog. 4 missed shots and I think everyone has seen hogs but 2 guys. Richard mellott has gone home, that should tell you something :) I knocked down a knarly 250# boar with 2" teeth this morning. Will up with pics tomorrow and the final take.

Ok, back home and unpacked. First, thanks to everyone who came out for this hunt, it was great meeting you guys and hunting again with new friends. Unfortunately, not everyone got shots or seen hogs, and i'm sorry for that, but that's hunting, private or not. Total for the weekend were 7 people got shots off, 9 people seen hogs, and 3 hogs taken. Really, if all shots would of connected, we would be 7 for 11, still pretty good, I think.

So, here's my story.

Friday 4 of us headed out from our normal parking spot. After a short while, rugermac and richmellott broke off and went down a road the headed to the creek. Ken and I went up to my normal spot for glassing. After about 30 minutes 2 shots rang out from below. Ken and I got to our spot and just glassed the evening away with no hogs spotted.

Saturday, rugermac, Ken, juantg and I headed back to the same spot. Rugermac went back to where he seen hogs the night before, while juantg, Ken and I went further up the road. Once we got so a glassing spot, Ken and juantg went one way and I went another. About an hour after leaving them, I heard a loud squeal that seemed like it was just around the corner, exciting as hell!. I got ready, walking slow thinking i'm going to spot this thing, but nothing. I continued walking down the road, and once I crossed the creek I looked up on a hill side and spotted a hog about 150 yards away. I walked to a small ridge where I could lay out for the shot, got proned out and Bang! hog was dead. Took everything I could do just to drag this thing down hill. We weighed it back at the shack, 195# without guts, so i'm guessing 230# live weight.

So, all in all I think it was a good trip, as far as shots taken. I wish more would of been killed. One thing I noticed on this trip compared to last, is the hogs are not grouped up as much, mostly singles.

Ok, so here's the money shots. I'll post a pic for juantg but he can tell his story.

That's one nice Boar Mel. You too Juan. Rich and I ran into the Hogs at about 25yrd. A side-arm would have come in hand in that situation.

Good stuff guys. Stoked you got one JuanGT. Mel, that could definitely be the hog I saw last year on the last day. Looks real similar if not. Can't wait to hunt with you guys again next year. Funds got too tight this year.
