Ok guys, George has changed things up that I think will impact the interest level on future hunts. The available date for this hunt will be Oct 11th - 13th, its early I know, but he wants to know if we will have enough people with the new changes, and here they are.

Price is $450 for a MINIMUM of 10 people, less then 10 it goes to $500 per hunter. The hunt is for Boars only, if a sow is accidentally shot it will be an additional $100.

I'm looking for your opinions on this right now, weather your in or not. My opinion is that this potential for the extra costs is too high for a semi guided hunt, but thats my opinion.

Let me know.

Thanks!

I wouldn't be going in at those prices, and I certainly wouldn't pay extra for shooting a sow.

For those prices I could book a private one day hunt. $450 is fine with me but the prospect of coming home empty handed or coughing up another $100 for a sow is to much.

Mel I'm gonna PM

As a comparison, that is about the same as the Tejon management hunts price and duration. Tejon has about a 50% success rate, what is this outfitters success? Even a sow is about the same after the insurance.

We have normally had over a 50% success rate, last year was 100%. John, I'm still in the fence with this one, I get a lot of people sign up then back out at last minute and that makes planning this hunt very difficult. If the majority on opinions is no go for this type of hunt, then that's how it will be shown to George. Then it will be up to George.

I may be speaking out of place here and I apologize if I am but it seems to me that hunting with 10 other people would be a less than ideal situation (I'm not sure the size fo the property) even if the property could support 10 hunters at once, I would think it's highly unlikely that there would be 10 different locations on the property that would be likely to produce pigs at the same time.. Again, I could be wrong. In my experience you can have an exceptionally large property but usually only one or two hot spots for game. So, to me it seems that this guy (and I mean no offense by this) is asking you to pay $450 for a 1 in 10 chance that you'll get the spot where the pigs are? Maybe the odds are better than that and maybe I'm flat out wrong and if I am please feel free to correct me.

There was a guy (acornridgeoutfitters) who advertised fully guided hunts for $400 last year, this year it went up to $500. I remember a time (and it wasn't too terribly long ago) when you could get guided pig hunts for $250-$350. It seems like every year the prices just keep going up because we keep paying the money.

I wouldn't pay $450 for a semi-guided hunt, but that's just me.. For $450 I would just save that money and keep saving until I could afford a non-resident license/tag for deer and elk in Montana.. (roughly $900). I found a nice cabin on 80 acres to rent for $125 a night, gas in my truck is about $500 round trip..

My point is, with the skyrocketing prices to hunt pigs coupled with the distance some of us have to drive, it almost makes sense to put off the pig hunt and put that money towards a truly awesome hunt.

My $.02, respectfully.

I have never done a guided hunt since I am already paying for Wu access but this sounds reasonable. I would be tempted if it wasn't during upland and so far away. I'm not the kind to plan so far ahead due to family obligations.

The property is 22,000 acres and holds hogs everywhere. When we are successful, it's in multiple spots on the ranch, not 1 or 2.

Keep your opinions coming please, I need to get a really good feeling on this before going back to George.

I think when we you first started the hunt there was 10+ people then it was fine for 400$ then people started to back out and there was less showing up at the last minute i was one of them once then i think it makes it difficult to figure out how many guys he needs to help out or not . I know that the extra 100$ is too try not to have people shoot sows but some people might want to just shoot a sow its a tough one i think if it's going to be 450 we should be able to shoot a boar or sow .I also think that when we send our deposit we should send the rest like two weeks before the hunt so that way George can make proper arrangements with what help he needs

also i think its too much wondering about the total amount you get to the meeting spot then some dont show up then it costs 500$ now then a sow is looking at you kinda weird so you shoot the sow now you add a 100$ then there was another sow standing behind that one damn 300$ more then 100$ more cause it so happened to be a sow things could get a little crazy i always just bring the check book for times like this

I think the price is actually really reasonable despite not being guided fully. However the reason I ha e gone in the past was because it was cheaper than other outfits and close to home. For five hundred dollars and maybe six I will abstain. The property can definitely accommodate ten hunters but the price isn't right for me

Not for me. Price is okay for either sex. But to only take a boar, no thanks. It not even really semi guided is it? He just drove us around and dropped us off.

As of right now, i'm not feeling that we will get what's needed for this hunt to get it for $450. I will give it a few more days, but I think opinions will remain the same.

I met George at the Sportsman's expo. Wasn't he advertising the semi guided hunts for $300 at the show? $450 is just too steep for a semi guided hunt when you can get a full on guided hunt for $500 to $600.

George was at the show, his normal rates are $300 for 1 day and $500 for 2 day.

I have a group of 5 guys that have done this hunt a few times with us in the past. He just told me they are in, even with the new rules. So really to make this hunt work we need 4 more guys.
