Mel, the way the weather is going right now do you think we will be able to set up tents at all at the camp site or do you think we will have to sleep in our suv's, or do we still have to wait and see...........tra

if you lay a tarp under your tent there should be no issues with water seeping through as long as theres not a small stream running under it. the weather calls for light showers friday and sunny through the weekend, should be great conditions.

someone should bring and EZup so we can have group chats. no fun yelling from tent to tent, telling jokes..

i am getting stoked. i just counted 4 broadheads left in my arsenal. i sent 3 into the grass after turkeys, never to be seen again. i will run to the store today. my wife suggested i rent a big 4x4. my wife the thinker.

Already packed... along with my big-pimp'n kamp kitchen (propane lantern, two burner stove, BBQ grill, and inflatable sheep), all slaved to one propane tank.

Sancho, just tell your wife you'll take real good care of her vehicle.

I guess we'll have to wait and see what it's like when we get there. I have an EZ Up that I'll bring as well. I hope it's not raining, my tent is a summer tent and I really don't want to sleep in the truck.

The roads can get pretty slick, so we'll just see who all has a 4X4 and go by that.

Almost here!

jb, have you decided if your hunting or not?

looks like i picked the perfect group of boyscouts to go hunting with. i just checked rental rates on trucks...got my hands shaking. it would take the cost effectiveness of this hunt and squash it to death. my wife's prestine WHITE subaru is about to go rallying! maybe i even put a redbull logo on the side. VARROOOOM! or i leave it on the pavement and hitch a ride. :not-worthy:

mel, i am going to pick up my friend's tent. he has a friend the worked for goretex. he has these 10x10 sheets of goretex, one is even camo colored for the US military. i can grab one of the sheets if you would like. it turns any summer tent into a 4 season, if you simply drape it over the tent. my tarp is huge. we can lay it out, and set our tents on it side by side, and keep the floor dry.

Sancho,
Great, if you can get an extra one just in case, TKS! I'm sure we'll be ok, weather report shows chance of showers on Friday and clear over the weekend, but you know how forcasts are. I just got finished changing my oil in my car and got a car wash, 10 minutes later it's rainy cats and dogs.

"Car"? I thought you drove a truck?

I'll have my Dodge 4x4 quadcab this weekend... no winch, but the only place I've ever got it stuck was deep snow. Also, she should be getting new shoes (if the rims come in) on Thursday...

I'm on vacation as of 11:00pm last night, that's going to make this week go by slow. This is the wierdest vacation I think I have ever had, spent 2 hours in court this morning with the exwife, going to a job interview on Wednesday morning (hoping to change locations with current employer) will spend the day with my wife on Thursday, and I'll be hog hunting on Friday :smiley-mouse:

Yeah I have a truck! The car was due to for an oil change and a wash, wife has been bugging me about the car being dirty, I told her to wait maybe next time she'll listen.

Who ever is hunting rifle and don't have a 4x4, I can take 3 people with me.

BC, love the Wrangler tires, probably some of the best tires I've had on my trucks.

I really have only been up there one or two times when it was raining, overall the roads were not too bad, but there are some spots that can get a little hairy when roads are wet.

Guys,
I have a toyota 4x4 with mud tires so I can pull out anyone that gets stuck. No worries.
I will be sleeping in the bed of my truck with my ghetto tarp camper shell. I also have 2 burner camp stove and lantern tree'd into a big tank. I will also bring my propane fire starter so there won't be any issues with wet wood.
I will bring along an extra tarp too.
I would offer rides but with the quad in the truck the cab will be stuffed with all the camping gear. Damn tiny imports!!

oh, the best 4x4 tires are the dueller revos by bridgestone. relative good cost, low highyway noise and great in rain and mud.
