I was out all weekend at the Hedgepath ranch with Big Dog, about 15 miles west of Lake Sonoma... no pigs for us...

As for me, seeing as how I'm my own boss, I'm taking that Friday off and will gladly meet at 11:30am on Friday so as to be able to get in an afternoon hunt.

I will be taking friday off so it doesn't matter to me. I do live in Fresno, and I think the drive there will take around 4-5 hours depending on traffic. Never been to the area, so I'm going to need some pointers on how to get there. Just checked google maps (thank god for the real pictures they have), now I have a general layout of the area.

Mel,
Thanks for doing all the arranging.
I know trying to get two people together for a hunt can be challenging but ten plus has to be real work.
Cheers to you.

I will probably do like Sancho, fast and light on food.
I live about a half hour away so might not camp I am assuming we can come and go in the evening and morning. But an actual two day hunt trip could be lots of fun all I ever do is drive, hunt and drive home.

Don't mention it, it's going to be a fun trip. Glad everyone's going, just wish it was sooner.

Cool, thanks. I have a brother who lives in Fremont, so I might head to his house on thursday evening and then meet you up in Concord friday morning. We'll talk more as the time draws closer, I'll bring the whiskey and my party cup

An addition to Mikensoco's post to get all your bloods boiling. This one was taken in 2006 next to one of the barn inside your 20,000 acres destination.

Great teasers guys. It's going to be a long 2 1/2 months waiting for that day. I haven't been on this ranch in about 4 years, but my buddies have been going, so I've been listening to their stories.

Can't wait.

Mel, I mailed out the deposit yesteday so you should see it in a few days.

So where exactly is the property located, is it of RockPile rd? Curious to know an approximation so I can start doing a little research on google earth and what not. Does any of the property have lake access or is that all Army Corps property?

Thanks, Chad

Chad,
Yeah, it's off rock pile rd. There's a couple of roads you can look for, Cooley ranch rd. and Hot springs rd, these should show up on google earth. You will see a finger of Lake Sonoma, which will turn into a dry creek bed. If you follow that creek up, you'll see a bridge, one of the roads is Cooley ranch rd. I have several spots pinned on Google Earth.

Here's some images from Google Earth.

I'm hunting there this Thursday. I will post pics that night or Friday.
Hope I get one. I can bring a rifle and improve my odds or I can bring the bow and do it the hard way the Tred Barta way.

Good luck! Try and remember what area you hunt in. George said he takes most of the spot and stalk hunters in the Buckeye Lake area, this is my favorite area and where I have killed all my hogs except 2. He told me he's going to try and lay off that area for a couple weeks prior to our hunt, so it should be pretty good when we get there.
