I'm bringing a 4 man tent, so if you want me to bring a cot for you, you can camp out on Saturday night. Let me know. BTW, my weather reports put Saturday as clearing. I'm bringing rain gear just in case. Pigs gotta eat, and they should be having fun in the mud. Let's spoil it for a few!

Thanks for offer but looks like weather should be good. I'll be camping after all. With all this rain, should be a good hunt. I think I'm going to hunt Saturday with my bow, ground should be nice and quiet for stalking >>----------->

Ok, only a few days left. If nobody has any questions, I guess I'll see everyone on Friday at 11:00am.

I'm definitely hunting rifle, but I'm into the stalk, so maybe we can still hang out, Mel. I sometimes take half an hour circling a clearing, just taking it all in...it will be a fun weekend, for sure.

Lake Sonoma Hog Hunt
Just wanted to say thanks Mel for putting hunt together, had a great time, George puts on a great hunt, Friday started hunting after setting up camp at around 2pm, walked up Christensen reservoir didn't see anything till almost dark, then saw 6 pigs up a hill, but they spooked before I could get shot off, so Saturday Morning after a late start around 8:00 got my pig at 9:30, a 183 pound Boar, great hunt thanks again

I just come back for my hunt over there at cooley ranch.happy I sleeping on my bed again.well as I read here,some have luck and others no mention.
My experience was a mix feelings about hunting with George as semi guide.
I do bow and rifle mix hunting . the first day I meet him at the gas station ,then hi took me to the ranch were I set my tent, and pay him for two days hunt.
He pick me up 6.15 am next day for the hunt on my own' dropme on spot where lots of pig signs all over.this was bow time. I hunt very slow looking in every canon 'oak trees ander rocks ,and took a lot of time and paciense as should be ,trying to find this pigs. he give me a radio and tall me to hunt for at list 4 hours. like I did until I was ready to try diferent area. try to call him on the radio and took him like an hour to answer back and come to pick me up.
then I rest until 2pm and I took my 308 rifle for afternoom hunt.
He drove me up to the top of a mountain , an told me he saw big boards in this place , so I jump out of his atv the make more noise then an airplane landing. he told , me to hunt slow and cross all the little creeks all the way to the other side of the hill, then go down to a lake way down,where is a road that will take me to a house.
Well my afternoom hunt start realizing the I shoul be a mountain goat.but my love for hunt is greater and lookin for this beast in his own territory,I knew the if I see any animal to shoot will be hard because the dificult of the terrain. but I didnt care and I went thru lookiin for oink .no even a sing . then I start my way down to the lake thru tick brush and stiff areas were I have to desend graving rocks trees and what ever to hold my wait so I dont break a leg all the way to a creek, were no road to be found . tire and exausted. I saw and open up in front of me were some cows been eaten. so I claim again thru some muddy spots to find this promise road. finaly I spot the lake like 500 yards down. I went thru again slow an glassing every little corner but nothing again.
it was around 5 pm almost dark ,but I was decide to kill this beast so I keep my hunt, and walk slowy all the way to this house for good time. finaly get there and decide to go to the road were this shallow river goes along this roads were I could see any pigs to shoot trying to cross to any side of the mountain in the last hour of the day .all ways looking for wing directions and slow as snail so the pig dont notice me.
I try to call my ride thru his radio and I realize he is not answer for at list 20 minutes then hi call me and ask me were the hek I am. when I tall him were I was ; He ask me if I trying to ran a marathon. I try to be nice and enjoy my hunt, but I paying for the hunt an I no up set for no seen any pig even with all the effort I put to find the beast to be kill.
He tall me to wait on the lake .but I dont recall that. well the country is nice , been along in nature , hunting for elucive pig. dont get me wrong love this can of hunting too.
that is what I call really a hunt.
next day I wake up 5 am freezing and deside to jump in the truck to warm up on the heat before my second day of my hunt. deside to go with my rifle since I was tire for the day before but reday again.my guide show up few minutes late but was ok.I saw him appearing on his truck from far away looking at him coming. then he tell me if I saw the pigs running away. I did not see anything.he tall me the pigs been there all the time rutting the ground.then he say to jump on his truck . he took me to top of the mountain and instruct me not to shoot any cows because some body confuse pig for cow before. tall me to take my time .I should use my binoculars and look very hard no just look with my naked eyes the this area is full of pigs ,he hunt this area for good pigs and explain about the terrain,well I go again in this mountain goat kind of hunt with the promise of this holly pig. I have to say thet I live on 900 ranch and hunt a lot with my bow and rifle,scout prior season and I have been succes with black tail deer coyotes turkeys quail some ducks taken with bow and rifle. so I no new to hunt and claiming this hills. no sissy here. know what glassing , wing direction , take time and slow approach. it is to take my time for good shoot.
well this hill again was not easy to start . muddy, stiff. full of canon to cross knowing well the a good position for a shoot will be very difficult also not a lone distance shoot. terrain was very tick. even with this terrain I did my best ,trying hard with wing direction ,noise ,etc. he tall me that at the end of this mountain is a sheep fan and he garranty no to cross the fan because no pigs there. well no pigs again all the way to the fan. went aget to the fan I should walk up the sheep fan until turns to the right and keep hunting. well after fallowing the fan I realize the fan turn was up the end of this huge hill. I decide to get down and call him so he can take some were else because hunting is good but at one point I not training to claim the everest. took me from 6:40 to 10:30 to cross this mountain.
well I realice the the radio was off from his side. he never answer for at list 1:30 minutes later, I call to his phone and not response . I walk to the asphalt near road and lay for all this time trying to contact him.finally he call me and ask were I am . tall him were I was and ask him to pick me up. he show up and ask me what I wanna do. well I realice the not pigs to been found in this place. he looks sleepy and he was yawning . bore to dead . I ask when was last time he hunt a pig and he say 2 days before my hunt with his dogs, I wounder why I did nt see any pigs then. then he tall me the he doesnt know anything about bow hunting or so ever. I decide to go back to my loving family . and tell my kids about the only pig I saw was dead on the road. I forget to say the after packin all my stuff he tall me to fallow him to the gait of the ranch ,were he open the gait for me and close the gait behind my truck to disappear with out a thanks for the easy $500 bucks I give to him.
not trying to discouring people for hunting with guides or so ever . I never hunt a pig and trying to go to a private place were my experince will be more positive all the way .bringing some pork shops home. I learn and I know the way I hunt I will easely at least see a pig on public area. good look with your hunt guys.
I will not pay a dime anymore to anybody for hunting ,hunting gear is exspensive all ready to give money a way to this people. they think they are hunters went they use dog to find the pig and tall you to shoot the poor pig the way. I am sure the meat is no even close to a unaware kill.
no trying to up set no body , but my experince was bad at the end.
