I'd vote for it. Especially with the seven day window to hunt at night with notice.

Gotcha. Just be aware that seems to be directed at private landowners and their agents only.

I read 2014? But when will this really start. I already have a pig tag for this year. Do I now need a validation card??

Most pigs are on Private land anyway in CA. All I see this bill doing is increasing the cost of all the other tags to compensate for lost revenue on pig tags.

First of all in Ca. And other states wild pigs are categorized as Exotic or Invasive which means they are non-native and intrusive and destructive on native habitat and native animals and should be eradicated without it costing the tax payers extra for license and tags if they really want to get rid of the problem like other states do like Texas and Florida where no of that's required u can use any weapon u want and even hunt them at night with no restrictions.
Answer this how did wild pigs become a Californian Big Game Animal.
Coyotes are an damaging invasive or Excotic species why don't the create hunting tags for them with all kind of restrictions like wild pigs, I am sure they will be considered California's next big game animal the coyote too when they need to create more revenue.
Why do u need to have a depredation permit in Ca. Inorder to do what other people can do in Texas and Florida with no provisions at all like that.
It just proves that California is a greedy state, if it's really a problem then they should make it easy to resolve like others states do to get the publics help to get rid of the problem with out all the difficultys and regulations and licensing and fees and stipulations and restrictions, but they dont it's all about the almighty dollars for them.
The real crime is that for all the time and effort and money that it cost just to hunt a wild pig is ridiculous in ca. For what u put into it u get very little in return from the state with all their rules and regulations.
In Ca. U only have 2 choices it's Public land and that's tuff because of the terrin or vastness and gets pounded by hunters and the other choice is private outfitters that want to charge an arm and a leg for hunt with no guarantees, at least in florida a lot of outfitters policy is no score no pay so that just shows the greedy side of ca. Outfitters because they won't do that.
Even here in florida they have a program where they will pay u to capture and turn in pythons because they are non-native too and out of control, but if it was California with the same problem it would be the opposite u would have to have a license and tags to hunt them i bet.
Well enough ranting since I live in florida now and not ca. Anymore it doesn't matter to me but just to think about my wild pig hunting bro's that still live there and are being taking advantage of by the greedy state that does bother me, by 2020 I am sure California wild pig hunters will be paying $50. A tag, like o said u will have to dish out more and more each year and the state and DFW will give u less in return compared to what u put in, believe me.......tra
Here's Florida's provisions for hunting wild pigs. No hassles at all.

I dunno, it seems unfair as it is when money is taken from pig hunters and used in the general big game fund. Deer and elk hunters should have to fund deer and elk efforts (and that includes me).

KTK, this is a bill that is being considered, it has not passed into law yet.

Tra you are spot on, validation should be not even required. You are also right about coyotes requiring a tag soon, that is what they are pushing for in this state (or an outright ban).

I have access to private but the landowner doesn't want to go through the "hassle" of a depredation permit. The herd in her ranch raids the grain bins at night almost exclusively.

Too many Democrats hit the "aye" button for it. Don't trust it.

She must not be having to much trouble yet. When it starts to be big trouble and lots of money down the drain, she will spend the little time and get the permit. She can put you down as her worker and get the ok for you to hunt at night and kill all the hogs you can. It is the best way to protect your property.

Maybe you can help her out and do the form/paper work process for her?
Oh, and its OK to put my name on there too, as one of the 'workers' ;)
