Hard to tell from the picture... where is it and what are the surroundings?
There's a family not too far from me that has a HUGE pot-bellied pig that they allow to feed in the field next to their house. I did a double-take the first few times I saw it out there, until I stopped and hit it with the binocs.
Anyway, due to the proximity to buildings, I'd say it's off limits anyway, without the homeowner's permission... and they'd be able to tell you if it's a pet or not.
Thats what I think those pot bellies get big my inlaw had one that was 160lbs and had never had the tusks ground down and he was amean sob! This pic is in valley springs one shot
loook at the head its short and very round .. belly looks full and round .. pot belly .. but we can go up and shoot it lol make some bacon for the trip .. in 10 days lol
Looks like a wild pig to me. Too much hair for a pot belly and the roundness can be the angle too. The big pot belly pigs drag their bellies. This one sure has room to grow underneath. I would not go to your pal's house without appropriate hunting equipment.
And a last note: If that pig is loose and not marked, it is considered a feral hog. It is for the taking if it is on property that is huntable by all other regulations. Same for domestic pigs. That pig could be pink and hairless, it would still be a feral hog, if it is unmarked and even if it got away two hours earlier!
His wife called some preserve by comanche lake and they said of course there are wild pigs up here but then he tried to sell them a $2500 MEMBERSHIP TO HUNT THERE!
