So I've been on this site for years and have had my hunting especially evolve a few times. Now I breed hogs and the wild ones are a huge pest for me infact two of my boars young got opened up last week by a wild hog. One is battleinf infection to survive. Anyways I've shot a bunch of wild hogs and they never taste any where near what my Kurobuta hogs taste. A few months ago I had a litter of half wild half Berkshire hogs. (Didn't shoot straight enough fast enough). I was considering keeping a few to see how they bred however they are 100% wild when it comes to temperamen and don't respect any fencest. So I have switched my dirction to fattening them out and seeing the true difference in meat quality in the wild hogs. Rooms alwayste methat the wild hogs get fat better then domestics if you put them on feed so we will see in about 3 months since I have them side by side with domestics. Any thoughts?

I think feed has a big influence on taste, not just pigs.

Aren't kurobata pigs known for their marbling? fat adds flavor.

Nice looking meat. I have heard about guys cutting wild boars and than turning them back out. Cuts back on wild breeding and supposed to make the meat much better. I guess the body armor kind of goes away and just nice pork left.

I have cut a lot of wild boars and let them go again. That's true, they don't grow a shield, they get nice and fat and taste great. They still grow nice tusks and the tusksbare in good shape too (not broke or chipped from fighting).
