A guy at work told me near his parents house around peoria he hunted and shot wild pigs of some sort.

I've never heard of ferral pigs, Wild Boars, Russian hogs, Razorbacks or anything living in Illinois?

is he full of it or is there something to this?

thanks.

This exotic hunting farms always have animal escapes & it only takes a breeding pair of hogs to start multiplying & in a few years it will take hold if left alone & there is water, food & cover. If you take up a Google search in wild boars in the United Kingdom of all places, the wild boar has taken a comeback after a complete absence of so many centuries. The comeback is due to farm hog escapes & some suspect deliberate releases of European wild boar. It has now taken hold in some rural areas of England. Wow!!! Canada is also another place with hog populations taking hold. Good luck & keep searching Google for Illinois escapee populations.
God Bless & Happy Holidays. larrysogla.
