I'm not sure I would have left that fresh track, I doubt that pig is far at all. That ground hasn't been wet too long!

If you are where I think you are, there are piggies there.

Well I found some fresh rooting and poo at least an hr old off the trail around some thick brush had to be at least three hogs around 150 to 250 pnders by the size of the scat I followed their trail found at least 8 more fresh piggie piles till it led me to their bedding but no hogs hanging out , so I hung out for over an hr but no hogs ever materialized I had to head back to the truck before it got dark I was far away and the rain is pounding down now. Got a 3 hr drive home so for to call it a day. I hunted hard and smart. When there is strong sign I am on it believe me, anyone who has hunted with me knows I know how hunt pigs just not kill one yet, but that's another story. Ill try to post some photos now but week tapatalk connect, if they don't go though I post them once I am home....tra

TRA,
I'll try to join ya next time if you don't mind. I know the general area that you are hunting. I live not far from ya so we could carpool. One of your spot looks like it might be good for using a boat. My boat will be ready in mid-Feb.

Tell a hog to stand broadside at under 50 yards and we shall see.

If any of you guys ever want an extra set of eyes, I wouldn't mind jumping in at Rohnert Park or meeting you up there. I'm at Sonoma State. Not interested in killing anything myself, but I love to spot and pack.

Mlindsay yesterdays weather was perfect for pig hunting and the pigs to be out, temp's in the low 40,s nice steady rainfall, its been so dry at ls they definitley shoud of been milling around rooting happily with that weather i am really suprized i didnt see one with all the good fresh sign i found but visability was very poor most of the day and coundnt see the hillsides for pigs so lost that advantage but it seemed i was three steps behind the whole day instead of ahead, but very happy i did'nt give up found something to work with.
My Rocky Boots and Bass Pro Rain Gear held up excellent, i was out in the field for 8 hrs solid in the rain hunting and stayed dry and comfortable so it makes it nice and easy to put the time in under those conditions, GEAR IS IMPORTENT!

cjack thanks, i enjoy sharing my hunts here on JHO!

Jason u know i Always give u the dirt and fine detials my friend! wish i had weekeds off!

L2h the next time i know i will be heading up there i give u a shout for sure, i have an eradict scheduale, i dont mind and enjoy hunting with the regulars here on JHO, its always been a great expierance and look forward to sharing hunts and the passion for hunting which to me is the most important factor!

yeh i broke open the piggie poo to see if it was still warm at all to get a time frame when they where there because it was so fresh, but it wasnt warn just nuetral, still very fresh.

BSA when i find fresh sign i am on it, i would never leave an area that holds great promise with fresh sign like tracks, scat or rooting, thats why i am out hunting for 8 hrs its not all hiking time its posting up and waiting time too for some piggies to materialize, but its all good...

I really had a great day bowhunting for wild cagey smart public land pigs in the rain all day yesterday for sure and cant wait to get back up there again!.........tra

Thank you TRA. Took a friend to some private property west of Cloverdale. Was rainning pretty good when we got there. About 45 minutes after the rain stopped we got about 200 yards from a nice boar about 150lbs. However he missed the shot. It was still a awesome time with a good friend who will be spending done time at the range :)

That's awesome Mlindsay that u and your friend got onto a nice boar and a shot opp..when it comes to rain and pigs it should be better chances For pigs to be out milling around on or private because of no pressure compared to ls with all the daily activity, Yeh can't wait to get back up there to hunt its an addiction for me , hope we can share a hunt someday that would be great, talk to ya soon!....tra uploadfromtaptalk1327208118508.jpg
