I hate to say it, but just stay away from they. I am a former member and don't care for how they run there operations one bit. I will give them the fact they have a lot of options and areas to hunt on though. Just nothing really positive to say about them and I will leave it at that. If you want more info, you can PM.

I've been looking around for an alternative to the drawing system for refuges and have had a few conversations with the WU person in my area. I'm going to meet him next week to see what they have to offer, but at this point everything I've seen across the various boards and forums has given me reason to be concerned. I read about the outfit in a column by the SF Chronicle's outdoors writer and he heaped praise on WU, so I'm wondering why the big difference between his opinion and the rest of the world. In any event, I've also contacted Golden Ram and I'll compare the two. I'm primarily interested in duck and pheasant hunting within a day trip of the SF area and hopefully WU can deliver on that.

That writer is probably one of the "good old boys" that everyone talks about......If you don't have an "in" in the office, you probably ain't gonna be hunting the ranches you want to hunt when you want to hunt them.

Is there a membership option just for camping? I was trying to find a way to get the family out without the crowds of public campgrounds.

I joined My Country Club in San Diego instead. WU has almost nothing going in So Cal except duck hunting which is all in IV. It's fair. If you are in No Cal it's probably a much better deal.

It is very hard to get information out of them about anything - the lack of help is the thing I like least.
