Now that's a long post. Why are you guys making this personal. Every couple of weeks something like this pops up. Try this:

1) Person asks for opinion about WU
2) You feel compelled to share.
3) Tell them what you think, good or bad.
4) If you have experience share it, if not don't post.
5) If you're a member don't take offense to it.
6) If you're not a member don't attack the ones that are.
7) Try to be civil about it. Most of the people here are adults

I am a WU member. Been a member for about a year and a half. Haven't used the ranches a lot because I've had a lot going on in my life. Other than that the times I did use it I liked it. It was convenient well maintained. What I really liked about it was you never had a garuntee. A 3 day hunt wasn't over in a couple of hours the first day. This is my opinion. If you have the money to spend, it's worth it, especially if your options for places to hunt is limited. It kind of throws you into the game.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>
you can NEVER KNOW when a ranch is full[/b]
Are you saying when you call for a reservation, they DON'T tell you there are only ___ openings left? If you take the last two openings, then can't you tell the ranch is full? If you get on a ranch that says you're getting the last two spots because they only allow 6 people on the ranch, and you see 8, and the people brag about knowing the caretaker and getting on w/o a reservation, that's what I'm saying happened several times on at least two different ranches. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>
Ya I can count on one hand how many ranches that have that rule[/b]
Okay, I didn't know how many. I didn't say I did, but I did know that happened on more than one ranch I tried to go on. Just because the ranches you go on don't have that problem, doesn't mean the ones I went on didn't. Try to keep it civil. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>
sorry I forgot you were looking for your own privet ranch, My bad[/b]
Now who's lying and misquoting?<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>
Every ranch has good years and bad years that is way we call it HUNTING, NOT SHOTTING. That is way you have to get to know all the ranches not Just one or two.[/b]
You're the one who said you could fill your pig tags in one trip no matter what. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>
OK so way do you hate the club some much???[/b]
Once again, your words, not mine. I don't hate this club, Golden Ram, or any others. I just think some of them are a waste of money and when I try to explain my reasons and experiences I am jumped on and called a liar. So naturally I take offence. As for how I know how people got on without a reservation, as I said, people said they did. Why would I make up something like that? Why would someone brag about getting on Palm every year at opening, a club that is very hard to get on at opening if they didn't? <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>
My experience wasn't good. It was hard to get reservations for ranches on opening weekends. If you pay that kind of money and can't even get on a ranch it's not worth it.[/b]
When I said it was hard to get reservations for ranches on opening weekends, I meant the ranches that I wanted. I could easily get on a ranch that didn't have as good a reputation or one very far away, but within 3 1/2 hours or so of where I live, I almost never got either of my top two picks and one year didn't get any. I never meant to imply that one couldn't get on ANY ranch. If you read the quote with the sentence before it, I think you'll see that it was clear I meant it was difficult to get on the popular ranches or ones you want on opening. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>
Ok, know I am confused, first you say you can never get on a ranch and now you have no problem????[/b]
When I posted this, it was in responce to the post directly above mine where someone heard that once a person HAD a reservation, they were turned away when arriving at the ranch. I said when I HAD a reservation I never had a problem getting on. I did have several times when it seemed like I couldn't get a reservation on any ranches. When I say this, please don't come back and say I'm lying because you can always get on somewhere; I obviously mean I tried several ranches and gave up after the fifth or sixth try of being told they were full.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>
I am sure every one would just like to here you say, ok I was upset and I stretched it, and I am sorry for stretching it (also know as lieing)[/b]
Since I never said anything about "stretching it" and only apologized for correcting your poor writing, I can only guess you're talking about yourself so I'm glad you finally admit to "stretching it." <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>
But on the one of “caretakers letting people use rifles on archery only ranches”, once again how in the heck are you??? you have no idea way they were shotting the squirrels or what ever.[/b]
Once again, if I am hunting on an archery only ranch, like Cummings, and someone says they are hunting pigs and they take a rifle out...figure it out.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>
But don’t go out of your way to make someone think you know everything about this club. Because if you were in the club of one year, you don’t know sh%! About the club.[/b]
I think this sums up your whole attitude about anyone who disagrees with you. When you are out to do nothing but "slam" someone--your words, not mine--then you shouldn't wonder why it starts getting personal and why some of us say you are acting like an arrogant a$$.

What I take offense to is that you are insisting on calling others on this post liars.  What makes you think you have the right to do this.    If you want to slam my butt somemore as your 176 IQ so eloquently has said, go for it .    I think your an ignorant fool.    Now, dont take offense to that because ignorant and stupid are two different terms, and I did not call you stupid.

I didnt want to reply to your lame ass accusations anymore, but I can not let you down so easily.      If I didnt know better, I would say that WU is putting you up to all this BS.    But I think their staff is better than that.

I am going to change your handle from now on to MENSA 176.

Okay time for me to get in on this.

257wby: Just who do you think you are with your 17 posts thinking you can start insulting people. Trust me you're going down hill very fast. You have no idea who outdoorplay is on this forum, what his experience's are. You have 17 posts and you think you know the whole story with WU on this forum. Outdoorplay is hardly in on any argument here on this forum. And for him to be in one then something is up. I'm not a moderator on this forum but it really pisses me off when someone get's on and starts jabbing at people that have been on here for a very long time and have been there for others on this forum. From your 17 posts on JHO most of them come from this thread. You talk about IQ's and calling others ignorant and what not, yet you use words like "LAME ASS ...." . And what exactly is your IQ?

Can't you people just let this thread die or at least stop the personal attacks. Out of 2 pages of posts, probably 4 or 5 posts were on the subject. You want to call people out, do it through emails or make a new thread calling them out. Either way I can pretty much gaurantee both you and your thread won't be around long.

This is the second longest,

sorry to all of the rest of you reading this but I am just cut and pasting there own words, then I make a coment, on the line of BS they are shovling.

Aug 29 2005, 02:11 PM you said, “All the property I hunted on had little to no game on it”
Ok as a member of WU how many properties did you go on and name them.
Same post, “old American Sportsman Club”
Ya you made mention of this. Sorry wrong club. wake up this is 2005 not 1970's
Same post “You would almost be better off to not hunt anymore than to join W.U.”
Ok WOW talk about going over the top, sorry sound like you are telling people what to do to me?

Sep 2 2005, 07:12 AM, you said, “I hunted on was now under a new lease with WU.”
I get it, all of WU pros. Suck in your own words and now you’re all pissy that WU took you favorite Ranch. No you don’t have an axe to grind.

Sep 2 2005, 01:57 PM, you said “for the money it costs to join WU everyone should check it out on line and ask questions.”
Know if this was your true fillings way didn’t you say that for the beginning, Sorry I getting mixed singles here???? one min. no don't the next min. check into it.

Sep 2 2005, 04:00 PM, you said, “Especially when the ranches WU leases suck.”
Ya I for got they stole you favorite ranch and your all bitter.
Same post, “I remember the Peachtree Ranch when American Sportsman had the lease had a 3pt or better for the first 3 wks of A zone. Bad move, lots of dead good forks found after deer season. They would shoot them and when the saw the deer were not 3 pts they were left to rot.”
American who????? Didn’t they go out of business over 20 years a go??? Get over it all ready. WU started before that club when out of business. But after American went out of Business, WU picked up a lot of their leases. That is the only thing they have in commended. Get over it. talk about a woman scorn.

Sep 6 2005, 06:26 AM, you said, “Outdoorplay - Where do you get off calling other people liars?” Sorry if the shoe fits, just call them as I see them.
Same posted, “There are too many good people hunting who have had bad experiences with the WU outfit to ignore.
Never said that people out there have not had a bad experience with WU, I have only called BS when I catch someone in a lie. Kind of like you calling WU the American Sportsmens, not true. In my book that’s lying.
Same post, “WU is not bulletproof and it does have its share of problems. Why would any of us waste our time on these posts if there was nothing to contribute. Again in MY opinion and for MY money WU is a total waste.”
Ya so you have said, Time after time after time, and it’s ok that you don’t like the American Spotsmens (sorry I mean the WU club)
If you noticed I have not be slamming you much, your not lining and its if you don’t like the American Spotsmens (I mean WU) that ok, but you are going why out of your way???? And I just don’t get it. I think you have made more referents to the American Spotsmens club then you have to WU, so let’s not here your old wounds about that club we are talking abut the WU. And for the record if you tell people that WU is the old American Spotsmens club THEN YOU ARE A LIER……………
<

Same post, “We are all entitled to our opinions. You claim that everyone who has made a bad review or opinion about WU is full of sh*%.”
No I don’t, I just think you are and as fair as the other guy. well we are try to under stand he said one thing and anther. but we getting to root of the proplem

same post, Maybe you should just be thankful that your experience has been good to date. To call another person a liar without knowing what his story is wrong. What happened in my time with WU is true.”
Now are you sure it WU or are you talking about the American Spotsmens club a gain???? olzheimers is a Bitch

Sep 6 2005, 07:48 AM, you said, “I still think Oudoorplay's, " if it flies it dies " comment is out of line and is void of any deep thought.”
Know lets not get personal. I’m not the one with a score to settle. Sorry the club stole you favorite ranch. and that you got burned buy the American Spotsmens club But it’s not my fault. and you don't semi retired at 33 buy being as petty as you.

Same post, “I come from another country (Italy) and basically that is how the hunting is there. If it flies, it doesn’t for very long.”
News flash this is not Italy, (go home)and I do a lot more then just kill, I give thousands back and I volunteer, not just one day but weeks, months. In the fishing industry and the hunting industry. So don’t preach to me.

How many under privilege kids have you gone out and bought new rods and reels for, how many weekends have you given up to mentor a new hunter or a young fisher persons? How many days have you spent away form your family to make anther mans families life’s better.

<

Well I have spent more on helping other people become better outdoorsmen then a lot of people make in a year. what are you doing besides attacking someone with a learning Disability? ya your a man like I said before your just a full of it.

I am sorry to all others that are reading this. I Know the

Please stick to the question that was posed by chadster on the origional post. Stop with the insults and foul language (even if you thinks it's hidden enough) or the entire thread will more than likely disappear. Chadster asked a ligitimate question. Why not do a Sevook said and either answer or let it go.

This is just a little heads up for all involved before it gets worse and folks end up on the outside looking in for a few days.

I am not a member but have hunted a couple of the southern ranches as a plus guest. The quail are plentiful saw a few deer while bird hunting, saw some coyotes and a couple of bobcats. A whole lot of bear sign
<

I liked the fact that I was hunting in an area that I was confident that I Was allowed to be in. I dont always feel that way on public land.

Is it worth the money? (Kind of subjective if you ask me) probably not, but what the hell is? A 400.00 pig from Tejon?
Will I join? I am not sure, I have the rest of this season to hunt as a guest but I will sure give it some serious looking into.

But it sure aint something to get all worked up over no matter what ya think

Ok, let me give you guys my situation to this thread.

Like everyone here at JHO, I love to hunt. I try to bring my children in to the hunting community, and to be surrounded by the things I enjoy. I have 2 boys and 2 twin girls, of the 4 my boys are already hunting and one of my daughters is taking her hunter safety course this year to hopefully start hunting next year.

Now for me to go on an out of state hunt with all of them, it would be very costly, not to mention the difficulty of trying to keep it safe with all of them in the field.

Like all of us, I have had bad situations on public lands. So, I choose WU for a couple of reasons, 1) I can hunt a piece of land with only a few others on it. 2) I don't have to worry about people shooting their guns off in the camp next to me. 3) Most of the ranches are within a couple of hours from me, so I can take 1 or 2 of my kids at a time, and still beable to enjoy myself without worrying about wacthing all of them at the same time. I didn't join with the expectations of killing more deer, although I have.

Now, like most WU threads, this one has gone off topic.

Bottom line for me is this, if you only have a couple of weekends to hunt, then this may not be for you, and it depends on how far you have to drive. If your looking for a gaurenteed hunt, then book a guide.

Some people will have bad experiances, but I think most are happy. So, in my situation, the club worked great for me. I plan on going back active next year, so hopefully I can get me daughters started off on the right track.

Here's some of my deer I have taken in case you are wondering if i'm telling the truth!
