Just curious if a pig will make a soud when hit hard. My buddy shot a pig last year and squealed immediately after he was shot but died moments later. Can I expect a pig to squeal if he is hit in the boiler maker or hit somewhere else.

I've had them squeal/grunt hard on several occassions - heart & lung shots and other less strategically placed shots.

I dont think it really matters if you hit them in the heart/lungs, the gut, or in the behind. Sometimes they'll squeal and sometimes they wont. Kinda like how different people react differently to pain. I know one thing fo sho, hit em in the dome or in the neck and they go right down with no fuss. But you better be close and know your rifle well to attempt this shot.

Ditto what SDHNTR said, Sometimes they squeal, sometimes they dont. But they never squeal when you hit 'em in the brain. They will however kick for days when shot right in the brain.

I know if you stick a knife in one, it'll squeal like crazy. A 9mm in the brain quiets things down, though.

I shot my Tejon hog behind the shoulder last year, and his partners squealed like crazy, but he didn't make a sound. I shot this year's pig in the neck, as per Elkron's suggestion... and she never made a sound. Rolled over with her legs in the air like a bug right there on the spot. She was kicking so I put another one in her brain, but I think she was already dead.

After being nearly castrated by a deer a few years ago, I NEVER walk up on anything that's still kicking.

I think SD and BigTusker have it though... it's gonna vary from pig to pig. Sometimes they will, and sometimes they won't.

I shot a 200+ lb. boar square in the front shoulder, it broke the humerus and tore up the heart and lungs pretty good. The boar let out one big squall and rolled down the hill kicking.

Both my hogs were shot in the boiler room and dropped like rock. They both let out a huge squeel as they were dropping.

Some of the hogs I have shot have squealed and others have not. I agree with the guys, when they say it varies.
