Woohoo!I won a 3day/2night free hog hunt,free room,

I just got an e-mail today from Paul CEO of www.WildHogHuntsTexas.com informing me that I won the FREE 3day/2night 2 Hogs of any size, 2 Coyotes, 2 Bobcats and Unlimited Varmints(Armadillos, Racoons, Possum, Gopher, Ringtail Cat) hunt w/FREE lodging onsite, FREE 3 meals/day, FREE guide for a total FREE package worth a WHOPPING $524 Dollars. This free hunt can be scheduled within the next 12 months. I have hunted with Paul at his operation in San Antonio, Texas back in 2004 with 4 of my hunting buddies. It is a very well run operation with(at the time it was only one hunting ranch that Paul operated, but now he has several hunting ranches) a 300 acre high fence with a baited one way gate for the wild hogs to enter but cannot exit. The 300 acre high fence is inside a 2,500 acre hunting/working ranch with extensive/forested river/creek bottoms populated by big wild boars that is accessible for the hunter via an unlocked gate where one can enter/exit back and forth inside and outside the high fence as one chooses to either hunt inside the high fence or in the 2,500 acre ranch. The hogs are truly wild inside the high fence and in the 2,500 acre ranch. They feed on the carpet of acorns from the forest of oak trees inside and outside the high fence and from the lush vegetation in the river/creek bottoms. The forested river/creek bottoms run in one continous gully from the 2,500 acre ranch to the inside of the 300 acre high fence so that the wild pigs have splendid cover and free ranging feed from the forested river/creek bottoms both inside and outside the high fence. Our 5 hunter group harvested a total of 9 wild hogs. We were very satisfied with our experience. NOW I can go back and do the same thing for FREE!!! WOWEEE!!! Talk about being BLESSED. Man, I am Deeelighted!!!
ALSO, I and my hunting buddy also received free room at the Bryson Hesperia Resort at the southern boundary of Fort Hunter Liggett for the Dec.29,30,31(Fri.,Sat.,Sun.) 1st annual JHO FHL hog, waterfowl, varmints hunt and BBQ. HOORAH!!!! LOOKOUT Wild Boar, heeeeeeere I come!!! I Will bring my 45-70 Marlin Rifle loaded with SuperHardCast 420 grn. Bear Buster 45-70+P Garrett ammuni'shun and my Remington 742 30-'06 loaded with 165 grn. Barnes X all copper hollow points and my Verona 12 gauge semi-auto loaded with slugs to Texas. Yes! That is the website. I just happened to browse thru their website last month and saw the FREE! hog hunt drawing and so I entered. NOW, WOWEEE! I can do it for free. Two of my hunting buddies that came with me in 2004 to that Ranch in San Antonio, Texas went back in 2005 for another 2 hog hunt 3day/2night deal and they(with 3 more of our hunting buddies for a total of 5 persons on that hog hunting trip) were satisfied with the hog hunt operation and with the harvest results. So I am familiar with this www.WildHogHuntTexas.com operation(or www.wildhoghunt.com website which is the same hog and exotics operated by Paul). Of course I cannot afford the exotics and the elk hunt so I just do the hog hunt. We stayed in the very comfortable air conditioned 3 bedroom mobile home. Now Paul added another permanent building to house the hunters and Paul also added more hunting ranches within driving distance of San Antonio(160 miles radius I believe). I like Paul's operation where you could hunt both the high fence and the 2,500 acre ranch surrounding the high fencel. The hogs in the high fence are truly wild having been enticed thru the 1 way gate. God Bless, y'all.

Thanks for the recommendation, Larry. It's always nice to get a first-hand view of an operation before committing to a hunt. I was actually researching a place to hunt javelinas, but for the price, it seems the hogs are a better deal. Found a couple S. Texas outfits that have decent rates, but I don't know anything about them, other than what I read on their website.

Way back in 2000, my buddy and myself went on a $150/hunter/one day(5AM-7PM) wild hog hunt in Live Oak County in East Central??? Texas. We arrived at 4:30AM and the guy that we talked to was not there because he went to a gun show. His wife who had two small children to take care of was given the task of bringing us to the hunting area a few short miles from their house. Needless to say, the wife took a long time to come out of the house because of the small children she had to take care of. So we started late getting into the hunting area and when we got to the elevated blinds it was already 6AM. The sun was up already and daylight was bright. Then she had a small bucket of corn and started sprinkling the dirt road in front of the blinds(my hunting buddy and myself were put into separate blinds one block apart) with a few measly handfuls of corn. The feeders in front of the blinds were empty and I suspect were not operating for months at a time. Needless to say, the hogs were not habituated into coming into the feeders because the feeders were empty all the time. So even if she spread a few handfuls of corn on the ground, NO HOGS will come as they are probably far away and already feeding on some neighbor's full feeder. We spent the whole day inside that small blind from 6AM to 7PM when she picked us up. THAT WAS ONE GIGANTIC EXERCISE IN FUTILITY. NO hogs or sign were seen or detected. It was a total fiasco. So live and learn.
Now with this www.wildhoghunt.com. I saw this hunt operation advertising on E-bay. Fortunately, another JHO member from California(chap_dog48) likes to go to Texas to shoot wild hogs and varmints. I asked him the name of the ranch they went to and if he would recommend the ranch. The ranch is in San Antonio, Texas. He recommended the ranch and it turned out that the ranch they went to is the same ranch that was advertising on E-Bay. I called Paul and set-up the hunt dates and 5 of us went in Oct. 2004 and had a good time and killed 9 wild hogs. Then in August 2005, another 5 of my hunting buddies went back to Paul's ranch and killed a bunch of wild hogs again and had a good time also. So I am excited to go to this FREE hunt as I know Paul already and our group has hunted in his ranch twice already and had a good experience. There are lots of Hog Hunting operations in Texas. Unless, somebody recommends it, you could have a good experience or you could get skunked like we did with that lady with 2 small children in Live Oak County, Texas. Take care. I plan tentatively on going in February 2007 with one of my buddies(he will pay for his hunt). I could also schedule the free hunt alone, but I prefer to go with one of my hunting buddies. If you go to their website www.wildhoghunt.com it mentions that they award one free hog hunt every month. The online entry link is on their website for applying for the free hog hunt every month. I just filled up the online entry application and now I was drawn and I can schedule the free hunt anytime within the next 12 months. It is a good operation run by Paul and I am looking forward to doing this free hunt in one of his many ranches. God Bless.

Congrats on winning the hunt larrysogla,

I take my son with me to South Texas the last 4 years now, to hunt whitetails, hogs and javelinas. We go to a place called the Edmund Tom ranch. He has 6,500 acres of both high fence and free roam. We always see a ton of game, the prices are reasonable and the accomodations and hospitality is great. They have a website by the same name and many positive feedback comments from hunters who have been there. Several of mine are listed. Each year I have seen numerous Javelina's, sometimes in herds of 20 or so. My son has shot two so far. Also see many hogs and of course alot of great bucks. I have never had a bad trip to this place.

I looked at the Edmund Tom Ranch website and definitely they have very attractive deals on hogs and javelinas and they are only 60 miles south of San Antonio. We may do a hunt there also this coming 2007 considering that we have a good recommendation from you and that it is only a reasonable drive from Paul's San Antonio area ranch which we are familiar with. We are very interested in the Edmund Tom Ranch hog and javelina hunts. Very attractive hunt deals. Thanks for sharing these as we hunters are always looking for places to hunt and for reliable guide/ranch hunt providers and for good recommendations from a satisfied customer. Larry, in reference to which place of Paul's I hunted, I hunted on the 300 acre ranch about 9 miles from Gonzales, Texas, which is about 70 miles south of Austin. I was informed by a reliable source that although Paul advertises having several ranches to hunt on, in fact, he just has the one 300 acre ranch. I know nothing about a 2500 acre ranch around the 300 acre ranch. He does have a hog trap at the back of his 300 acre place to catch hogs from the property next door.
