In the 2010 season 25,672 elk were taken in Wyoming. Success rates were 46.7% for residents, 52.1% for non-residents. I'm stoked to have that tag.
Those stats are from the Wyo F&G harvest reports. Nothing new, Wyoming has always had a high success rate. There are units where the wolves have had an impact on the western side of Wyo but elk are spread all across the state. Many ranges have not had much of a problem with wolves.
Believe what you want. Wyoming doesn't need to salt anything in regards to its elk population. Most all units are oversubscribed for the available bull tags.Fantastic draw units and the best general elk tag in the west, bar none. Many units offer reduced price cow tags to control the population. If you hunt a unit wolves have impacted move on, there's plenty they haven't.
