Howdy all!

So last year I started a thread askin if anyone with 6 or more points was plannin on puttin in for X12 and if they would be interested in sharing the cost and the experience of the hunt. Needless to say I did not draw it with 6. This year it looks like point creep has me wonderin if I will draw it or not. So I'm puttin the same question out there this year. 7 or more points and thinkin bout X12 let me know. I'm just outside of Bakersfield if that matters. Thanks for readin, look forward to hearin back. Have a great Memorial day weekend JHO! Cheers

I just got back from fishing the East Walker. X12 looks absolutely AMAZING. That's one of those units I would be willing to tag along on, just to say I was able to "hunt" the zone lmao Good luck on the draw, brother!

X12 is our go to, and everyone else's it would appear. A few years back a buddy of my drew it with 4 points and the next year my girlfriend, Dad and I got drawn with 5 points for my dad and I and 3 points for my girlfriend. (Party app) i don't know it it's worth 7 points now days with the drought. The year my buddy went there was water everywhere and deer also the next year was dry and little water and we had to work to find the deer. I really like the zone and keep putting in but we don't have near enough points to draw. Good luck to all who apply out there!

Only hunted it once when my Son was old enough for big game. Don't think he will be able to hunt it this time. He's a Corporal in the USMC. He uses his leave to come home during holiday's.

Gotcha, well I hope you guys can get out there in the future. Please extend my thank you to him for his service and sacrifice on this special day. The military holds a very close place to my heart. I come from a very military heavy family and my girlfriend is a USMC vet. Afghanistan Camp Leather Neck deployment got her messed up so she is 60% disabled. She does get around ok but I have to keep and eye on her so she doesn't do to much. We currently only have 3 deer points so we won't be heading that direction anytime soon. But I hope you can get there soon.

Jake you should have her go through your local VA Rep to file the documents to have it upgraded or at least see if she qualifies for a disability upgrade. Reads like she has a physical injury, if so she has PTSD I'm sure. They rate each separately based on how one files their claim. Take me for example. For 50 years I didn't know I could get disability until I had a break down at Loma Linda VA hospital one day. Just lived with my PTSD and hearing loss as well as a bad heart. (due to agent orange) You have to file for each one separately on the same claim, as they rate them that way. For years couldn't hold down a job for long was in and out of homelessness. Now I get 100% VA disability but rated as unemployable due to my heart so I get a higher disability. Anyway if she worked the burn pits she may be entitled to 100% on her VA disability New law pass earlier this year. I recommend you and her look into it. Sorry for the long post but I feel she earned the right an injured Veteran to receive everything she should be entitled to.

Thank you for your service also SportyG she is 37 and gets around ok but her hip and shoulder are garbage. She has a DAV rep she talks to and they are working through things. She gets re-evaluated every now and then. I think I have a harder time with her being banged up than she does. I just want her to be healthy.

Sadly it can take time it took them about two years to decide my claim. they check every detail against the person military record. The interview also carries a lot of weight so depending who she has/had can make a big difference. Some are good and will recommend approval others will denie every claim they work. I wish her the best and thank her for her service.

Hey everyone,

I just joined JHO and am new to deer hunting altogether. Last year was my first deer season, hunted D13 Twice and didn’t see anything but had a good time hiking. I put in for X12 and didn’t get it, but got drawn this year, not sure how. Any tips for a new hunter? Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Ryan.

for each zone they set a certain number of tags aside for those without points. It's not many so congrats on your draw.

Congrats on your good luck drawing that tag. Its beautiful country with lots of places to explore. Make a couple trips before the season to get the lay of the land.
Good luck and enjoy it.
