Nice capture...looking at it, it seems so simular to a hairy wp and a downey...how do you tell the three of these apart?

Thanks H&W. Downey's are the smallest of the three that you mentioned, sapsuckers and hairy woodpeckers are about the same size but the color patterns are different. The Sibley field guide is about the best book out there for identifying birds.
