I don't think most mainstream Dems are against fighting the Taliban but they are making a come back in Afganistan. Our next president has to figure out how the Afgan security forces can beat them with their own troops although we can give them material aid and some air support. We were able to beat insurgents in the Philippines and Greece after WWII not by sending in troops but by aiding the above national governments to do it them selves. After 6 years in Afanistan the Afgans need to do the job themselves. Yes it was a funny post.

I thought it was hillarious. I'd seen it before but it still got a chuckle.

Easy, no where have I defended the Taliban. If you read my posts on them you'll see I have been in favor of wiping them out. I think we have been distracted from that task by our foray into Iraq. Afghanistan is not getting any better and the Taliban is getting stronger. Let's go after those who perpetrated 9/11, Al Qaeda and the Taliban.

To imply that Dems love the Taliban is just plain stupid. How many Dems do you personally know, and of them, how many do you think welcome an attack here at home? This type of BS is one of the many reasons the the country is so damned polarized. An "either/or" mentality demonstrates no room for discussion or debate or tolerance. For some reason, the far Right has hijacked the Republican party, and turned it into a platform to spew their, repeat their, version of what is right and wrong. We had a golden opportunity in Afghanistan, and we blew it when GW decided to invade Iraq. I remember wondering at times what was going on in Afghanistan, because all the news concerned Iraq. Now there is a resurgence of the Taliban in a country where we had them not only contained, but actually pushed out of the country. Now what do we have? Another mess that the Republican leadership put us in.

Nobody said the Democrats want any attacks upon our homeland..after all, then even a Dermocrat could get hurt !

But by condemning the efforts of our leadership and troops, they give "aid and comfort" to the enemy..to the detriment of our troops.
Any way you cut it, if you condemn our own efforts and offer aid & comfort to the enemy..you are defacto..siding with the enemy !

You won't find any democrats calling for us to pull out of afghanistan only iraq. You may find the oddball here or there but then Ron Paul is saying the same thing also.

Most of what you hear is the fact that we should be increasing our efforts going after those who caused 9/11, Al-qaeda and the taliban.

There is no criticizing of the president as far as going in there and there is no criticizing of the troops there. The criticism is the fact that we should be doing a better job there with more troops.

Do you want to go after the people that caused 9/11? That is the monkey you guys carry...........

Osama bin Laden sent two jet airliners into the Towers, one into the Pentagon, and one into a field. Our glorious, righteous Republican President decided that securing the oil in Iraq was much more important than bringing the killers of the innocent to justice, so he pulled many of the troops out of Afghanistan to go to Iraq. I want justice, not oil. Your party wrought the financial and military mess we are in right now. Our troops are doing what they are told, they are warriors. I stand in awe of the ability and integrity of our armed services. I've been there, done that, have you? I support our troops by questioning their commander-in-chief's motives, which have led to the deaths of over 3000 servicemen and women. Have you lost any friends? I have, and it sucks. Our leaders are paid to make good decisions for this country. When GW decided to go into Iraq, he used 9/11, weapons of mass destruction, and misdirection to convince Congress to let him go in. There was a big patriotic groundswell of support at first, because we were doing something, anything against the perceived enemy, the enemy that GW painted for us. He should be imprisoned for war crimes. And what about the Dick Cheney? Can you find anything about him to admire? Republicans can't get far enough away from the two of them. That ought to tell you something.

To say that I am giving aid and comfort to the enemy because of my beliefs is also just plain stupid, and insulting. That is akin to GW saying that if you aren't in complete agreement/compliance with him, then you must be a traitor. What a moronic, myopic, insulting attitude from Bush II and the rest of the Republicans. What's his approval rating these days? Let me tell you...33% as of Feb 1st. Now there is a ringing rejection of him and his failed policies. Now he has taken to running off to Africa to dole out millions of dollars for HIV treatment that would be better spent at home on the people who have no health coverage.
