Here you go...my 6.8 at work on a big group under a feeder in Texas this past June. 85 gr. Barnes TSX. See the one with the tusks sticking out?...It's 335 lbs hogzilla on the hoof.

Wow!!!! I guess it works, huh!

In all seriousness though, did you hit all three of those in a few seconds or was that over a day? Also, what was the approximate range and how far did they make it after being hit?

Ps. Nice to see an actual pic of you and put a face to the posts. Ive seen many of the pigs you've taken and love all your "who says there at no public land pigs..." posts.

All three hogs were in the same group of about 30 hogs. This was a night hunt, notice the tactical flashlight on the side of my scope. I have a red-dot sight sitting on top of my scope as well. Flashlight and red-dot combo works well for fast shooting at night. First shot goes to the big boar's head. Three more shots at the running herd in less than 5 seconds. All 4 shots connected. The middle hog took two bullets. The big boar and the smallest one on the right of the pic dropped in their track. The middle hog dropped on the second shot. 50 yards from the blind to the feeder.

I have a 7.62x39 SKS that I have taken pigs with and am building a 6.5Grendel for my AR lower. Ever since getting the AR bug and building one, I have used my 5.56/.223 on pigs, but only when hunting coyotes. They have all been unexpected bonuses at close range and easy shots in the ear. The 6.5 Grendel will allow for better long distance shots with devastating effects...I don't really think I will use the AR for deer or elk hunting but for pigs with possible mutiple shots, yes...

.243 for the little stuff and .50 Beowulf for the big stuff. Beowulf thumps hogs and is a blast to shoot. :) RG

have you shopped for anything ar related since the school shooting back east?

Nope. I got some spare 5.56 mags. 10 round metal mags. Too bad they don't fit your 6.8. I also have plenty of 300BO ammo I can make. I doubt there will ever be a shortage of 223 brass and .308 bullets.

The metal mags will fit the 6.8... there is a small modification needed.

My comment was not about a specific round. I was comparing the recoil of an AR platform to that of a bolt action. Huge difference comparatively. If I had to select an AR for hogs I would lean towards the AR10 for better ballistics and knockdown power. Some places have spooky hogs you'll hafta shoot from 200-300 yards.

Lol Bruce its cool I didn't mean to offend. I wouldn't go with an ar-10 they are heavy plus plenty of hogs taken with an ar-15 platform at 300+ yards.

Yea. It has a bit of a recoil. Not bad. Some say it's like a 20 gauge shotgun.
I have killed 2 hogs with this rifle. Both shots less than 100 yds.

That's what I hear. The two hogs you shot what ammo did you use?

I have a few, 223, 243wssm, and 458 socom. Socoms get the job done quick and effectively. Hands down the best big bore platform, velocities are perfect, the bullets are heavy, and they expand out to 1 1/4" flower.

I have killed many pigs with my R-15 in 223. Most 80-200 pounds, I wont shoot them if they are very big, I leave them to friends who are hunting for a "trophy" pig. I tend to hold it at 200 yds or less and only a confident head shot at my max range. Coyotes on the other hand will be shot out to about 275 yds.
