Whats your biggest pig live weight?

The biggest I've harvested is between 250-275 (we weighed it after we gutted it so we had to somewhat guess on the weight) that was in Grass Valley, CA. The biggest I've seen harvested is 350.

If there is a recent similar thread. I apologize just point me in its direction.

325 about 10 years ago. Nothing even close since and I've taken my fair share. Here are a few pics of a 300 pounder taken on my ranch about 2 years ago by a friend. He had 3 1/2 inch lowers. That's me in the first pic and I'm 6'4"

Biggest pig 300 pounds, guestimate.

Shot my biggest boar a couple of weeks ago. At bigtuskers ranch. Biggest in the tusker sense. Here is the link to the story with some pics. 3.5 inches on lowers. At the taxidermist right now.

WOW! That thing looks like a monster! How in the world did you get that up on the hook? I'm sure you had help but even then that is a heck of a job!!! Last year I shot a pig just over 200 and me and my dad together had quiet the time trying to get it up there. The big one that he shot (350) had to skin it on the ground. The cape alone was 100 something pounds we had to connect a winch to it to get it up there.

I have an electric hoist for skinning. It makes it real easy. So getting him up in the air was easy, but getting him in the truck was another story. I had to back my truck down into a ditch to get the tailgate lower than the bank and drag him in that way.

The biggest hog I have taken was the very first hog I ever shot out at our place

. Not sure what he weighed, but it took 3 grown men and myself to load him in the back of the truck, we estimated him at 350 +/-

The biggest pig I ever took huh. Well I kinda took this one. Actually my youngest son took the first shot, but it didn't go down hard with that shot even though I think it would have eventually expired. I just didn't want to have to track it seeing it was getting close to dark. So dad helped to finish it off with a quick second shot.

Here is the LINK to the pictures and short story. Obviously it's the biggest pig with the smallest person.

Honest question... How do those big pigs taste? Or are they just for Trophy's and Sausage?

I don't know who was more ticked me or the Hog.

2 in the head then,

mmmmmmmmmmmm........some of these pigs weigh more than they look

don't want to start anything but just compare the pigs posted. The point is to get people to judge animal weights better (by no means am I calling anyone a liar).

Hey Shot,
On mine, what I did is double the weight of what it weighed in at the meat locker. I heard that's a pretty accurate way of guessing the live weight. Mine weighed in at 186lbs, this was hanging weight, no head, hide or guts. I've heard from more than a couple of people that this is a good way of estimating live weight. I actually checked this with a hog I shot last year. I figured the hog to be at 175lbs, we had a scale and weighed it without the guts and it weighed 146 pounds. When we took him to the locker he weighed exactally 87lbs. So atleast for this hog, the theory held true. Here's a pic of the one that weighed 175lbs.

Mel, that is also what I heard. You pig looks the right weight. I was speaking generally, even in the field when guys shot pigs I always hear "man that has to be a 300lber," while its barely 200lbs.

Here is one that weighed 205lbs.

I didn't get a live weight, but always figured about 30lbs for guts on a field dressed hog. This sow was 178 field dressed by the Tejon scales. I guesstimated live weight in the 210lb range.

Yea, I saw it on the homemade stuff section and I had to have one. Didn't want to buy one, and since I'm in the steel fabrication business, I figured if I couldn't make one I better find a different line of work. If you want to purchase one a guy named Hoggin Hank who posts alot in the homemade section sells them. His web site is LINK here. He is a JHO advertiser.
