Youth Upland Game Bird Hunt and Clinic
MDC
1/8/03
Area hunters between the ages of 11 and 15 will have an opportunity to participate in the Youth Upland Game Bird Hunt and Clinic. The hunt and clinic will be sponsored by the Old Drum Quail Unlimited Chapter and the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC). The event will be held on April 5, 2003, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Clear Fork Hunting Preserve, 321 NE 671, Warrensburg, Missouri.
"This youth clinic and hunt is a great time to introduce youth hunters to the sport of upland game bird hunting," stated Lin Kozlowski, Wildlife Management Biologist with the MDC. Along with the hunt, participants will learn about wildlife conservation, dog handling, and will be able to hone their marksmanship skills shooting sporting clays. There will be special emphasis on safety, ethics, sportsmanship, and hunting traditions.
Dennis Jones of the Old Drum Quail Unlimited Chapter states "We are very excited to have the opportunity to sponsor the Youth Upland Game Bird Hunt and Clinic. We are looking forward to working with the youth in our area to further the love of upland bird hunting."
Participants must register for the Youth Upland Game Bird Hunt and Clinic by March 26, 2003.
The event is free, but a $15.00 deposit is required at the time of registration. The deposit will be returned to the participant on the morning of the clinic. Each youth hunter is required to have successfully completed a Hunter Education Certification Course. They should have their own shotgun and ammunition. Hunters must be accompanied by an adult sponsor at the hunt. Each adult may sponsor up to two youth hunters. The number of hunters will be limited, with preference given to previous youth hunt and clinic participants.
To receive more information or to register for the Youth Hunt and Clinic, contact the Missouri Department of Conservation, Clinton Office, 2010 S. Second, Clinton, or call 660-885-6981.
