Dad and I are looking at scouting D14 next weekend. I am curious what passes and/or permits will we need so we can camp on the weekend. I am thinking of scouting somewhere around Sugarloaf Mountain and Ten thousand foot ridge off the Highway 38. I understand that I might need an adventure pass of some sort, should I pay for it online? We will be driving up on Friday around 8pm after my work. Any information would be much appreciated. I am going to call the ranger station hopefully tomorrow.

Thanks again, good luck this year and shoot straight.

So yes I do need to pay for an adventure pass. http://www.myscenicdrives.com/store/item/forest-passes/southern-california

Adams vs. U.S. Forestry Service. 9th Circuit says you DON'T HAVE TO PAY. It is a volunteer deal like a donation.

Thank you TonyS, I just paid for the adventure pass, I will save it as a donation then. Now I don't have to worry about the pass not showing up on time. I was wondering when it was going to be free.
