Sorry it took me so long to post this, my internet was shut off.

The first day of our 2 day hunt was quite a pain in the rear. After searching all morning for some decent horns, we finally saw a pair 3/4 mile off the road. I jumped out of the truck, grabbed my gun and began my stalk. The animal seemed leary of something, but had no Idea that I was there. After about 60 yards of walking, a white pickup drove the road I had just left, and waved at me. I waved back, thinking, you better not do what I think your going to do. After and hour and a half of stalking, I sneak up behind a 4-5ft. mesquite, and try to figure out exactly where the bull is. There he is, 200 yards broadside just begging for some copper. I set up my shooting sticks when all of a sudden...... BOOM! My animal dissapeared. As i'm sitting there in denial of what may have just happened, it was confirmed by the blaze orange vest walking right where I last saw the bull. I completely deflated as I see the guy pump his fist in the air. I turn around and start walking back to my dad who was at the road watching. I told him what happened, and he knew the whole time. Our friend who went with us watched the guy park 200 yards down the road, get out, and walk at the animal, no sneaking, nothing. he got within 150 yds, they guessed, and shot. Needless to say, I was livid. That was the end of day one.

Day two started out a little better, as we had found a nice big herd of oryx that were sneakable, but it was a 3-4 mile hike, so we kept them in sight, but were checking other options. As we stopped for lunch, we hear a shot no more than 300 yards from us, and turn to see a cow hauling serious butt right at us. My dad and I got as far off of the road as possible, and layed prone. She ran right in front of us at 100 yards, and my dad was yelling "SHOOT!!!!", As I was about to pull the trigger... BOOM!!, the cow tumbles ass over end. Honestly, it was an amazing shot on my dads part, right on the shoulder. After we dress and load the cow, my dad and craig were going to run back to the entrance so the taxidermists could skin and quarter the animal. He suggested that I go hike after that herd I saw earlier while they were gone. So I did.

I couldnt see the animals in the beginning of my hike, but I knew about where they were. After 2 miles or so, I finally spotted them and planned my attack. I decided to crouch through a strand of mesquite that led just shy of where they were. As I get within about 500 yards of the herd, I see one bull by himself, 200 yds. from me, and Staring. Busted. I froze for what felt like an hour, but the bull turned around and walked to the herd (thank you god). I was now at the edge of the mesquite, with 65+ animals 500 yards away, I layed prone with my 30-378, debating if I should see if they move closer, or take the shot. I chose to wait. As im looking through my binocs, I hear yet another BOOM! The whole herd starts hauling ass away and to my left. By this time its 4:30 and the end of my hunt is at 5:45 so I'm thinking its over. There was nothing but flat, open land in between me and the oryx. Then I see a truck driving off road in front of me, it was the guys going to pick up the animal they had just shot and the herd started heading my way.

They ended up acting like they were going to skirt me at about 500 yds again, So I pack up and start running back the way I came to try and cut them off. I plant my bum next to a big mesquite bush, and wait. All of a sudden I see the whole herd skirting me , but then I see 2 broken horns heading right at me. By this time its 5:15 and definitely time to make something happen. Finally they come within 150 yards and I say "Its now or never", BOOM!! .... Bull down :smiley_yahoo:

Gatta go to class, I'll post pics tonight.
