2011 Tejon JHO Hunt Apps! Hunt is May 20-22nd

Ok here is what I will need from everybody. Please email me at jasonb229@yahoo.com
In the subject Line please put Tejon May hunt. In the body of the email Please give me your full name, JHO Handle if applicable and the names of the people in your hunting party as well as a contact phone number. I will be emailing the apps this year so I will not need your home address. Tejon Ranch needs all the apps back by May 1st. I will include my Home address in the reply email so you can mail me back the signed apps with all the information included, which are
1 signed apps
2 signed pig Tag
3 copy of insurance for any vehicle you bring to the Ranch.
4 check made out to Boggs Ins.
5 check made out to Tejon Ranch


There is a check list on the app so double check you have included everything.

Details -The cost of this hunt is $450.00 if we get over 25 hunters, (youth hunters under16 are $250.00) if not it goes up to $550.00 maxing out at 50 hunters. Non-hunting quests are not permitted. The hunt is for one hog per hunter. You may not add an additional hog. Hunt participants may not shoot any other animals, including ground squirrels, coyotes, starlings, etc. Rattlesnakes are an exception, and yes, there are lots of them in those hills. You may hunt with rifle, shotgun (slugs), handgun, or archery, No dogs are allowed. We will be meeting with Maddi at 10am Friday May 20th for the MANDATORY orientation at the Main building. NO lead ammo is allowed anywhere near the ranch so double check your rig for any rounds that may have slipped between the seats. Rhinos or similar UTV's are allowed on the Ranch, quads and MC are not. Plan on being at the Ranch by 9am and or we usually meet up at the flying J around 8 to BS and have Breakfast before heading over to the Ranch around 9am.

well henry Dont go. This is how economics works, supply and demand. there are guys like myself and friends and others on here who go not just for the hunt, but for the experience also. If you ever had a chance to hang out with a group a men and women from JHO, its a great time.

So do we actually camp on the property or motel it? Dry camping? Facilities? What? I won't know for weeks whther or not I can make it. It would be a first for me, never shot a hog, never hunted with a muzzleloader and never field dressed anything. I will need a lot of help. Is this the right event for me or should I lean towards a guided hunt?

We camp on the Ranch, the only Facility is a port a potty. I am sure other hunters will be more than willing to give you a hand with any questions or help you need. I would be more than happy to help you out on this hunt as well. Honestly Tejon is an awsome place to hunt and this Group hunt has been a blast for me the last 4 years. Like LX said it is a great experience and you will learn a lot on this trip.

When I did the JHO Hunt a few years back, we had numerous first time hog hunters. A lot of guys shared information and was willing to lend a hand. If your a first time hog hunter, you can really benefit from doing this hunt. If your a veteran hog hunter, but new to Tejon, you still will have an awesome time. The area is huge and you really can space yourself out. Camping on the ranch is half the fun. The night time activity is worth the price of admission. It's cool to share stories at the skining rack and have a few beers. Personally, I would attend the breakfast at the Flying J to gather as much information as you can. That's a GREAT time to mingle with people and introduce yourself. The year I went was the first year we did the early morning breakfast and it really paid off! The experience really is worth its weight in gold. If I didnt have a private ranch to hunt, I would be all over this hunt. I gotta save my pennies for an out of state hunt. Goodluck.

Can you tell a noob what the PRO in Tejon PRO hog hunt means? Is this only for experienced hunters who are new to pigs or total newbs?

Bohunter, you can bring a game cart but I don't think you will be wanting to drag it around as most of the area is pretty steep. You are better off bringing a Frame Pack or Pack that can hold a quartered Hog. I have 2 so if you need help with packing anything out just get on the Radio and we can helpout. A tent trailer is fine.
