Good deal! Glad to have you join us.

I received a couple of paid apps before I left for the SHOT Show, but there are still plenty of spots open.

Do you folks carry a pack with you while on this hunt? if so what is the normal size (day pack or full size pack) I have a mid size Rocky pack that will hold a fair amount of goods, or I have a good size fanny pack that will hold rope, a snack or two, some ammo, and a few odds and ends. I don't have a pack frame but this will (with any luck) be a good oppertunity to give one of my Tompacks a field test. Thanks for the info
Oh by the way is it time to go yet

Fanny pack it!

I used to use a day pack, but like work expanding to the amount of time allocated - it just provided more room for me to fill up with junk.

I now use a Wilderness packs whitetail fannypack.. http://wildernesspacks.com/pages/products/packs.html

800 ci is just enough for me to pack

couple of bottles of water
radio
gps
compass
map
sardines
energy bars
emergency blanky and firestarters
petzl headlamp
batteries
zip ties
folding saw
knife and sharpener
diaper wipes
exam gloves
a few zip-locks
100 ft rope
orange mesh vest and hat
tag
camera

Gimme the Banana Man!

EA,

Usually you're not too awful far from the vehicle, so a day pack or fanny pack is sufficient for most hunts. However, there have been times when a backpack is nice to have. If you bring a full pack, you don't have to load it to capacity. Kinda covers all the bases.

I usually keep a pack frame in the truck, in case (like last year) we have to pack one out.

Oh yeah... it's getting closer!

No orange rule, but if I'm dragging one or hunched over in the grass gutting one out - the orange goes on.

Rancho; I did some work in Bonny Doon many moons ago for Lonestar ( I think that's the name). I remember it was way back in the hills and they had some of the biggest damn trucks and equipment I ever seen. Beautiful place to live Bonny Doon, the ocean in your front yard and fifteen thousand college girls less than ten miles up the road.

Hey EA...

Superduty DID tell you about the stripper pole and disco ball in his house-of-ill-repute on wheels, didn't he? Make sure you bring plenty of dollar bills. Superduty dances OK, but he won't get nekkid unless you tip him good.

Oh, here we go Phil.

I thought we discussed what happens in Tejon stays in Tejon.

You know as bad as it might get I don't think it would ever match the time I took the rig up to Niland for the JHO pheasant hunt. The first shot of Tequila will be on me Phil.

Yep that's the place. And Lonestar changed to RMC Pacific and now is Cemex.
They have about 9,000 acres up here in timber production, and it holds hogs too.

And now we're already talking about Tequila...whoa.

<SNIP>
If I remember correctly (which is doubtful, since I'm making this all up), the stripper pole incident didn't technically happen at Tejon. Wasn't it in the parking lot of the Flying J?

That does bring up a good point that I don't think anyone has mentioned yet Speck. Anyone up for breakfast Friday morning at the Flying J before orientation?

Hey upperEA, you were suppose to keep that one in your wallet. I just knew when I took that one that it would end up on the internet someday. You just can't trust anyone these days.

Oh, Dave... you told me that picture was just for me.

Flying J breakfast was a great way to meet up last year. I'd be up for doing it again!
<

Oh, and hey... I've started us a thread in the JHO Events forum where we can start slinging the bull and planning the fun. You can get to it right HERE.

That way, folks with questions about signing up and all can do that here in the Hog forum, and we can chat and B.S. in the Events forum.

I spoke with the wife last night and considering I already have a hunt date a week later (May 19-21) we decided to pull the plug on this years JHO POR, I really looked forward to meeting some of the characters on this site but there's always next year and little stuff in between.

Stay safe and get a hog.

Bummer there, Rich.

You'll still have a great hunt, as any time at Tejon is a great time... with the added bonus that you just might kill a hog.
