Hello LS Pig Hunters!!! :thumbs up2:

**Please see the attached PDF 2013 hunt map for complete information**

There will be no shotgun hunting this season- Archery and Crossbow Hunting Only.

Hunting dates are as follows:

Archery and Crossbow Only November 23, 2013- March 27, 2014

Hunters will initially be required to register with the park staff. The newly renovated Visitor Center is now open! Hunters may register in person Weds- Sun, 9AM to 3 PM only.

Be advised there will be no on-site registration Mondays or Tuesdays. Please plan your visit accordingly. Also note there are other ways to register- online, by FAX or mail- see instructions below.

Previous years’ hunters must still register for the 2013-2014 season. The Friends of Lake Sonoma non-profit group will be coordinating hunt registration and will charge $30 to complete the process. The money will be used for registration and educational material costs and for land stewardship within the park.

Hunters will be required to show a driver’s license, valid CA hunting license, and a pig tag. They will then be issued a hunting pass and given a brief orientation on hunting at the park. In-person registration will begin September 26th. There is no maximum number of hunters for this hunt.

To register long distance for Lake Sonoma Hunting Tags
Fax, email or mail a copy of your Drivers License, Hunting License and Pig Tag to our Visitor Center. These three items will fit on one 8 ½” by 11” paper. Include your telephone and fax numbers on the page.

It looks like Lake Sonoma will be open to the public for 6more days before it’s affected by the government shutdown so VCGirl will be handlingpig hunt registration. Hopefully everything will be sorted out by opening dayon November 23rd, if not, you will still be able to access the park via the LakeSonoma marina. Just be prepared to pay for parking as well.

Joel,

Just to clarify if the park closes next week we could still access to hunt through the Marina for Pig or with our A25 tags?

Please bear with us as the park access issue is fluid. As of this morning (Monday) Lake Sonoma is closed to hunting or any other form of shoreline or water access during the government shutdown. This includes the special Department of Fish and Wildlife lottery draw hunts.

All water and shoreline access to the park will be closed until further notice.

The last I saw on this all shoreline areas are off limits, boat access only through the marina.
That being said you can do a bit of scouting by boat, just no hiking

I heard they got 3 patrol boats, to make sure no one is using the lake. I might be wrong.

Hello LS Pig Hunters!

Here is the latest news: As of right now No Name parking lot, Little Flat parking lot, Yorty Creek, Public Boat Ramp and Marina, Lone Rock, Warm Springs Rec Area are all open. No camping at Lake Sonoma – no boat-in, hike-in or drive-in. If I did not state a specific parking lot or building in this message then that means it is still closed as of right now. Joel and I will try to keep you updated with all of the current changes in the park.

I am still getting hunters registered for the upcoming hunt and if you have any questions please feel free to email or call me.

Its legal for lots of things at certain times. You just need to be able to read the regs.

Glad I got into archery hunting, never expected little bonuses like this archery only areas

Thirty days left until the Lake Sonoma pig hunt opener on November 23rd. Timeto start scouting and getting those game cameras set up! Money is tight thisyear in the park so be prepared for “pack it in pack it out” , which nearly allof you folks do anyway, but may come as a shock to more casual visitors! Looking forward to seeing all of the trucks parked along Rockpile.
Good luck guys!!!
