"Money is tight this year in the park so be prepared for 'pack it in pack it out'" Can you elaborate on this, Rangerjoel? What will be different from previous years?

So if you plan to hunt for several days what is the best arrangement? Is there somewhere nearby to stay or somewhere nearby to set up a tent? I live in Bakersfield and would love to go on this hunt but cant go home every night after hunting.

Ok, great so we will be able to spend the night in the field. That's a relief.

Does anyone know if ATV use is allowed?

I'm a local and do volunteer work at Lake Sonoma. Put out the game cam for 2 weeks and got plenty of pictures...all pig pics were boar hogz. These are 6 of the many pictures. If you have any hunting related questions feel free to ask and I will try to assist VCgirl and RangerJoel the best I can. Good luck guyz, maybe I'll cya out there or will be hunting with some of you.

TRA- Thought you might be interested in the photos. I tell you what, if you put one of those big boarz down I will personally come to the lake and help you haul it out.

FlyTrue- Exciting to see the pics in the daylight hours, those pigs will probably be one of the first to go. BTW they look like they are heading for the "Fly True" manzanita.

26 more days!

I went up the Visitor center yesterday to register for the hunt but found it was closed (due to funding problems :))..... I'm wondering if any of you guys might know if there is still a way to register in person? Thanks in advance for any info!!!

I registered using the long distance procedure. It took all of maybe 10 minutes of work. You fax or email a copy of your license and tags, then receive an email the same day from Rachel Mack with a form to fill out. Send that back and she calls for the credit card number. Two days later you get the packet in the mail. It's so easy and efficient.

I think the visitor center is open for registration Wednesday through Sunday. It clearly says in the info in the first post that there won't be any on site registration Mondays or Tuesdays.

Call them tomorrow to be sure, but I'd bet they are open.

Hello LS Pig Hunters,
yes the Visitor Center is still closed due to funding. I posted that a few messages back but will post the information again. As of right now all camping is closed at Lake Sonoma and there is no guess as to when it will open back up. As for registering for the hunt, the VC is still closed as well. The only way to register for the hunt is to email or fax me a copy of your valid driver’s lic, hunting lic and one pig tag along with the terms and conditions sheet. I will call you to get your credit card info. Your passes will be mailed the next business day. I have attached a copy of the terms and conditions sheet (T&C sheet) that you will need to register. Here is my information again in case you need to register or just have any questions.
