Hey Mickey all BS aside, if you enjoyed your hunt, then thats what most important. Good for you. Just as you said for a young or new hunter, I am sure the place is great.
As far as the 357 goes, I posted on your thread. I used a 357 for a long time. It was all I had. Hunting behind dogs it was an ok weapon. I have killed my fait share that way. I have also had my share of close calls, and dogs get hurt. Even had good boars put me on my butt. So I have since upgraded to a 44 mag.
When you are in the brush and face to face with hogs on a regular basis, you can not aford to take risks. A Russian strain will be much tougher than a hog that is closer to domestic. So it is my personal choice to carry a bigger bang. Something I can count on. With a larger caliber, I don't always have to worry about vitals, or a head shot to stop them in their tracks.
