had a good time but probably my last was this year....not the hunting part (thats fairly easy) getting around at the motel and doing what needs be done is the hard part
we got there around 1:00 pm aned just pulled in his driveway by his mailbox and on Toms side was a mature doe... stragler and Tom asked if I wanted to shoot it...I said he should as it was on his side...so when she was where he could get her he stepped out and shot her....just there a few minutes AND one down and 5 to go
I got no pic of her ...Tom will maybe post a pic.
proceeded to hang her up and continued hunting...Tom walked for a couple hours while I patroled his driveway (4 or 5 miles long)
when I went back down to pick Tom up he told me there were 2 doe bedded way out...he said maybe I could get on his drive and he would stalk (flat as a pancake terrain)
I sat on the road for a long time and saw nothing...then out of nowhere the 2 does appeared trotting at around 250 yrds or so...I got situated and took a shot...never touched em...they like shfted gears and were running faster now and I tried another shot...nothing..I could see em shift into ultra high gear now (some say they can run 60 mph) I jacked in one more and remembered what a freind told me he had to do once on a running anmtelope which was to shoot wway out in front so I tried leading her like 3.5 body lengths and fired once more (about 350-400 yrds by now and running flat out)...shot and I heard the bullet hit...she never even broke stride but from the sound I knew I had hit her...went out maybe 1000 yrds ...they stopped and she bedded down right away and upon looking with spotting scope I knew she was hit in the front somewhere...I went back and got Tom and we went back to where they were and they were still there...tried to get close as to finish her off but she got up and ran again......she lay back down again so we decided beings it was geting down to low 30's at night to let her lay and expire overnight
next morn Tom recovered her..she was dead
after this I spotted another antelope and Tom walk out stalking her...got a couple shots and knew he hit her and she ran over a ridge...He was waking up there..heard something rustle in the sagebrush and almost imediatley got sprayed point blank by a skunk.....said it was about 4 feet away....man did he stink...never found the doe but not from lack of trying (3-4 hours he spent looking)
lady at motel recomended Dawn dish soap to remove the smell...it worked real good...no smell at all
anyways here is couple pics of my doe that lay overnight
ended up I shot her in the head....can't believe she never broke stride!
