Been 15 plus years since I hunted there for antelope. But I have since given others info on the area and they have been successful. If you want, e-mail me and will dig out my maps and we can talk. It should be a great youth hunt.

Tommy - check your email...

I sent you some email today... let me know if you received it... I forgot to mention in the email - you should try to contact Modocer on this forum... He owns a nice ranch in the zone with antelope on it...

A ranch between cedar pass and dorris Res. put up a new sheep netting fence, the antelope migration into the north end of the zone has been all but cut off. We have a few here in the Goose Lake Valley, but not many. And the north end of Devils Garden is all but void of antelope.
I would try Thomas and Raker Res. area. My father and I drew last year and I came across a couple of nice ones out their. The problem is the wild horses. They messed up a couple of sneaks for me.
Big Sage Res., Boles meadow, Triangle Ranch, and Fairchild swamp areas are also good places to try. If you want to go on private land, Alturas Ranches allow people on for a fee.

Thanks for the info on places to check out for the antelope . It will definately help us out since the kids start back to school so early now (Aug 11th) I wont be able to take him out of school for more than the week of the season .
I have been thinking about taking a couple of days off from work and just driving up there for a day just to get familiar with the area , but i dont know how much of a difference that would make , plus i dont like leaving my son at home , it will be more fun to find one togeather.
The wife said we could stretch it out one more day by leaving Thursday afternoon when he gets out of school we are planning on hunting the whole season. The drive is about +6hrs so we should get there at 9pm ,I hope it is easy to find a camp ground when we get there for our trailer .
We are going to scout the day before the season and if we dont find any , i guess opening day will be just looking around to find some in a new area. We are going to practice shooting this afternoon , i got a bi-pod for his rifle , since it sounds like he might have to shoot 200yds .Since he is only 13 i dont want him to have to shoot too far .He is really really excited to be going on this hunt , last night he aske me if he got a record book one if i would have it mounted for him . I thought that was kind of funny .
Thanks again for the help !! I will post some pictures if he gets one when we get back .:smile-yellow:

Don't laugh too much at your son's "record book comment"... It could happen... very easily... My antelope and my brother's were just short of the book, and we saw a few that would go way up in the book... Good luck to you guys... Get some pictures for us!
