WTF, I meant Old Tree. Real Old Big Tree, whatever!! Read this, Old Tree Anyways Dave is up there hunting right now, 5th day of the hunt. I stopped in to see them on the way back from my antelope hunt and have been talking to them almost every day since. Bad luck and the other (four) hunters and their cronies have been screwing Dave out of connecting earlier. Latest word, 2 hours ago, there is a blood trail somewhere in the Owens Valley... More to come...

Dang, from the looks of that first pic that herd bull has one heck of a harem. Must be why the second pic, of what I would think are satelite bulls, looks like a bunch of lonely bulls.

Looks like a good bull you got there, if that's the before picture. Have a safe trip back.

This bull is in the freezer baby!!! What do you guys think. I'm probably spoiling it for Dave but I am excited for him. Dave earned this bull. This bull qualifies Dave for the prestigious CBH Whitney Hill award for taking the Ca slam!!! Congrats

CBH/SAA recognizes 17 different species of game taken with a bow. All but Coyote and Bobcat have minimum scores for record book entry:

Mule deer
Columbia Blacktail deer
Pacific Hybrid deer (actually Mule deer with a separate boundary)
Black bear
Pronghorn Antelope
Bighorn sheep
Mountain Lion (no longer hunted, but some archers have taken them before the moratorium)
American elk
Roosevelt elk
Tule elk
Catalina Spanish goat (no longer hunted)
Santa Cruz Island sheep (no longer hunted)
Catalina/Santa Cruz Island hog (no longer hunted)
Mainland hog
Turkey (all species)
Coyote (not measured)
Bobcat (not measured)

There are several catagories for the Whitney Hill award, two of which are for the slam. Catagory D = 12 different species, 10 of which qualify for the record book. Catagory E = 9 different species, 7 of which qualify for the record book (excluding the three island species). That's basically it. Personal goals for everyone out there to pursue and drive your passion. Ed F

Did he DRAW all those tags or did he buy some at auctions ? Just wondering because I drew an antelope in '92 and tule elk for next month and my friends consider me very lucky in the draw. To draw ALL big game is astronomical!

No, he didn't draw all 17 of them. No auction or raffle tags either. Dave has taken 13 different Ca species with his bow, 10 of which make the record book. He doesn't have Bighorn Sheep, American elk, Roosevelt elk or a Mountain lion. By the way I drew Ca antelope and Tule elk in back to back years. I plan on drawing a Bighorn Sheep tag next year. Confidence is everything, right!! I am plum out of luck. Ed F
