Well, I got a late start around 12:30pm at FHL and I went to a place where I had seen pigs on three separate occasions. I hunkered down and stayed in one spot since the ground was so dry that if I were to move over dry grass and leaves the piggies would hear me a mile away. After 7 hours I saw a sow with three piglets run by, but I was not in a proper position to get an accurate shot off at them as I would have to use my left hand and if I shifted my body they would have heard it with all the leaves rustling. So I waited till they went up the other hill to see if I could get a shot off but they had disappeared int the brush. One minute after the sow there came a decent sized boar except this time I was ready. He was running about 65 yards down my hill. I fired one shot from my mini-14 223 (barnes solid copper 55gr) and he dropped like a rock and then expired. It turns out I had hit him in the spinal cord and that was all that was needed. I gutted him on the spot and drove my vehicle up the hill and picked him up and went home to finish cleaning him.
I have been hunting FHL for about a year and this was my first public pig taken. Pics below.
