Russ I usually go to Big Bear. The lake East of the Stanfield cut-off and the ponds farther there are good for wading. The bottoms firm and the Duck weed is easy to get through. Most of the Carp aren't large, which makes for a tougher shot. All the better. The Fawnskin area holds a lot of fish also. You can park at the trailhead on the West side and walk to the water. The marina personal have been receptive to us each time we've asked. Wait until later this summer when the waters lower, you'll be able to collect a few arrows stuck in the mud by yours truly.
If ya have a boat...try at Squaw Lake on the Colorado River, it is located just north of the Imperial Dam. A really good BLM campground there and boat launch, very large carp. And the bass fishing with palstics is fantastic, the water is so clear ya can spot all the fish, launch an arrow or throw a plastic at them. Ya kinda idle through the cattails, as if your on some sort of "Jungle Cruise" then ya come up on really high rock cliffs and it opens up into Squaw Lake....neat place to visit...best weather I have seen there is in early to mid May. Really a worthwhile place to visit.
thanks people for the info, I live in Hesperia so big bear will be great.
And I Just got a boat a couple months back, 20 ft glasstron, might be overkill for bowfishing but what the hey!
