I apologize if this has been addressed before.
In about 1981, my father purchased a Lynch world Championship box call, used Carpenter's chalk (the kind for chalk-lines), used it a few times and then put it away. Fast forward to yesterday, he gave it to me, helping to feed my turkey-addiction. Question: How do you prep your box calls? Should I strip off old chalk and start with new? If so, how to remove old cloth, cloth, sand paper or ?? Do I sand the lid, with what grit sandpaper, smooth or rough? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you and good Luck!
