Boy did I blow a great pic.
I was in Missouri turkey hunting and one evening before dark Tinhorn and me were driving around looking for deer and turkeys and all of a sudden on the right the perfect scene came into view. The sun was setting and the light was flat on a real grassy hillside with an oak timber background. There were 4 deer feeding, one fawn was layinng down in the grass. Nearby a tom turkey was strutting for a couple of hens.
The view we had looked like a painting, so I hopped out of the truck and my camera wouldn't focus right away since I had the tele on and the auto focus sometimes takes a minute to track right. I kept messing with the zoom on the camera and I could see the deer were still looking at us and getting nervous even though we were at least 1/4 mile away. Pretty soon the deer flagged their tails and ran over the hill spooking the tom who flew off. If I had gone to manual focus right away I would have gotten a couple of shots.
Ever miss a doozy of a shot?
